The Crown Season 6

I am almost done with the last available episode, E4.

Anyone else have thoughts? I’m not ready to share all of mine.

(Can I share my one Crown peeve though? Giving multiple characters a bad posture that didn’t exist as badly. Sure, Charles maybe. But Dodi? And definitely not William.)

Yes, one of the many reasons that Josh O’Connor’s performance as young-adult Charles was so acclaimed is that he perfectly captured Charles’ “stooping” posture! And I agree with critics who say that Dominic West is way too charismatic for the role of older Charles.

I think others, like Diana, did also stoop a bit, to try to minimize the way she towered over a lot of the men - and that’s a real issue for 6’3” Elizabeth Debicki. And maybe William picked up a little shy, deferential stoop from his mom in real life? I do recall him doing the head tilt thing when he was younger.

I don’t know. Regardless, I am enjoying these last episodes. They’re not Aberfan, but still a good watch.

This, and he also comes off as more intelligent. Charles is highly intellectual but not that smart -- his weird life and the giant chip on his shoulder prevent him from having canniness. Diana, on the other hand, was not intellectual at all but highly canny, which I think Dubecki gets right. She's a frivolous woman but knows how to work things to her advantage.

She was also trying to peep out beneath her bangs, which results in a slump

I agree Dominic West is weird casting for Charles. The actress who plays Diana is amazing in this.

If Dodi’s dad was really that obsessed with Diana in real life that is soooo creepy. He treats her like a goddess and a piece of meat at the same time.

they never touched on the time she threw herself down the stairs while pregnant (with William). I guess some truths are too much

Didn’t they have tinted windows and SUVs in those days. All the paparazzi shots show sedans with clear windows.

I’m only on Episode 1, but am confused. Didn’t Martin Basheer interview Diana last season, when she was so distraught about Charles and Camilla? But now it seems she’s never met him? What am I missing?!

PP here - I’m an idiot. I thought I was watching Season 6 but turns out I’m back in Season 5. I think I must have forgotten a lot because it seemed brand new to me. Duh!

I am not liking Elizabeth Debicki, and didn't care for her in the previous season, either. She was cast solely for her looks, and she has the mannerisms down pat, but she is not a good actress and is completely unconvincing to me. By contrast, Dominic West, who is so much better looking than the real Prince Charles to the extent it should be distracting, does an outstanding job with his character.

Congratulations on being the only person on planet earth with this ridiculous opinion.

No thanks. I thought season 5 was a bore.

Yes from a British paper. Gee, I wonder what they could have against it.

He was obsessed with being accepted by British blue-blood society, and was using her to get there.

+1 found it boring and drawn out. Felt they tried to make Charles look good in all the drama.
