The Crown Season 6

He reminds me of that smarmy redheaded kid in Dead Poets Society.

Same. I actually loved these final episodes, especially the way it ended. The whole thing was moving, and I appreciated the way they focused it all back on Elizabeth’s reign in a way that conveyed the weight and longevity of the monarchy. In that way, I disagree with the PP about where they chose to end the series. It showed precisely how the monarchy is bigger and more lasting than any set of individuals or events.

Really? I fast forwarded most of that Margaret episode. Did not find it interesting at all.

Also Claire Foy’s makeup was terrible and made her look weird (and I think she’s beautiful.)

You have no soul.

I am almost done with the last available episode, E4.

Anyone else have thoughts? I’m not ready to share all of mine.

(Can I share my one Crown peeve though? Giving multiple characters a bad posture that didn’t exist as badly. Sure, Charles maybe. But Dodi? And definitely not William.)

It is unwatchable.

Millions of people disagree with you! But of course you are entitled to your “opinion,” lol.

The Nazi storyline directly contradicts what Harry wrote in Spare. The whole of the last two seasons were way too favorable to Charles and William. I think there's some truth to the rumor that Peter Morgan wants a knighthood and decided to go easy on them.

But the entire BRF hates this show and wishes it (or at least the last three seasons) didn't exist. Even though the show is super gentle on Charles (and William, and Philip, and Margaret, and the Queen), they've had a lot of their proxies trashing it fur various reasons because I think they are fearful of anything that might make anyone think too hard about them and what they do and why they exist (or whether they exist).

You do know that this show is fiction, don’t you?

He failed his classes in high school and there was also a cheating thing he was involved in. He’s not book smart at all.

How did he graduate from high school then?

Lots and lots of tutors and they aren’t exactly going to fail out the third in line to the throne.
In Spare he said that he really didn’t deserve to go to Eton as he knows he is not at all book smart.
I don’t think that Charles, Andrew or Anne went to University. Elizabeth was barely educated at all, but then again, when she was young, she wasn’t expected to be queen so they saw no reason for schooling her.

I thought Charles did. Remember, he did the acting there? And I think he learned Welsh there too.

Charles went to Cambridge (Trinity College) but it's not where he learned Welsh. He learned Welsh in Wales (at another college there, though he was only there for a semester I think).

I think it shows the BRF in a positive light and would think that even though it is a bit creepy to have a show detail all these events and details about your family, it is great publicity for the BRF. The actor who plays Charles is so much more charismatic than the real King Charles. The more people who watch the Crown, the more people who will be sympathetic toward Charles and William as well (and not really Harry).

Not the last two seasons. Didn't you notice that? It was a tone change. Why? Whatever the reason the BRF hasn't sent anyone out to brief against it.

The actor portraying Harry was bad casting, but it seems like it shows Harry in a much more positive light than the truth. The actor portrays him as much more intelligent and capable, taking care of William, doesn't show his mental illness, etc.

Yes! She practically stole the show!

I really liked her character. She was so natural and warm.

Given that, I have a lot of admiration for him for turning out to be a kind and decent man, apparently a good husband and father, and for doing his best under very difficult circumstances. I think he will struggle through life as long as he remains in the public eye and I don't think he has any idea what to do about that.

I hated the actor who portrayed Harry. He seemed snake-like and mean. Not at all like the Harry we’ve all seen, who is warm and kind and funny. He has his issues, for sure, but this portrayal of him was just so off.

What? He was portrayed in a horrible light - nothing at all like his personality that the public has loved for decades (not recently, but when he was growing up). He was portrayed as mean, bitter, annoying, and arrogant. Which is weird considering Harry has a relationship with Netflix. If anyone, you’d think they would have gone easier on him.

I found the actor who portrayed William to be excellent. Not only did he look like him, but he didn’t overact at all - very believable and haunted. I loved the St. Andrew’s episodes with Kate.

Imelda Staunton deserves an Emmy. She was so wonderful in this role. This was a beautiful show and I’m sad that it’s over.
