The Crown Season 6

William and Harry are portrayed exactly how I imagine them to be in real life: one is a mature, realist cognizant of his duty, and the other is self-centered, immature, and clueless about the reality of the monarchy.

Yes! She practically stole the show!

The actress was really good and man, this show is not showering her with praise. Sheesh.

+1 And I love how it echoes Elizabeth and Margaret. The abdication red herring, which I don’t think was really a possibility in real life, was interesting because she’s so good at her job and surrounded by people who aren’t a good fit for it. I also agree that the William and Kate stuff was boring, but that’s by design IMO because they are boring.

I'm on episode 9. It seems a bit unusual to me that Harry didn't go to university. Don't all of the kids in the British upper classes go on to university?

Overall, season 6 is better than season 5 (and maybe season 4, which I can’t really remember).

Seasons 1 and 2 (snd maybe 3) were damn good. The later seasons just can’t compare.

I read recently that the first seasons had a different casting director - one of the best in the business - than the last couple.

Margaret’s final episode made me cry. She was my favorite character throughout the series, and I thought this was a great episode.

Season 4 had a lot of good stuff from Josh O’Connor as younger Charles and Emma Corrin as younger Diana.

That would surely explain a lot, wouldn’t it?

He failed his classes in high school and there was also a cheating thing he was involved in. He’s not book smart at all.

How did he graduate from high school then?

They should have stuck with the younger Harry in the year after Diana’s death and then moved on to a slightly older Harry. The actor is 23 years old! I though he was supposed to be one of William’s school friends at first.

The actor they chose did him no justice looks wise and they wrote their relationship to parallel EII and Margaret which might not be so far from the truth. I think they’re both insufferable in their own ways but it did shine a light on the reality that no one really cared what Harry thought, felt or did. Which couldn’t have been easy and I hope William is not repeating that mistake with his own kids in terms of treatment.

I don't particularly like the actor playing Harry but I do think the dramatization of what Harry's life must have basically been like before he met Meghan seems pretty accurate. Given that, I have a lot of admiration for him for turning out to be a kind and decent man, apparently a good husband and father, and for doing his best under very difficult circumstances. I think he will struggle through life as long as he remains in the public eye and I don't think he has any idea what to do about that.

Was Harry conceived naturally or an IVF baby?

Yes, the early seasons were cast by Nina Gold, who also cast Game of Thrones and the most recent Star Wars trilogy. She's especially well known for casting young talent ready to make the jump to higher profile roles. She is especially tuned into the London theater scene.

The later seasons were cast by Robert Sterne and the biggest missteps, IMO, have been the casting if Will, Harry, and Kate. Rather than relative unknowns with major acting chops, he cast inexperienced actors. It doesn't work and feels so out of step with the early seasons when the young characters were played by people like Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby.

Who would you have cast? I’m curious! I thought the actor who played Will was good. I was more eh about Harry and Kate.
