He claimed people are afraid to leave their homes, they are not. Btw if you are sitting at home whining on DCUM that you don't know anything about Reardon Sullivan when you haven't even bothered to read the Bethesda Beat articles about him, you are not an informed voter and should probably just not vote in this race. |
Damn! I have no words for that one. Shudder. |
Lol Since when did reading the Bethesda Beat become the only hallmark of being “an informed voter”? |
So you are saying this person is better off getting their info from DCUM and then acting confused when people reference what the actual press has reported? |
You’re the one who exaggerated the claim you made against him. Please cite where he said MS-13 was “taking over the county”. Oh right, that’s not what he said. Also, did you have conversations with the Asbury residents? How do you know that none of them expressed a fear of rising crime to him? |
Here is the exact quote and a link since you all are too lazy to actually look it up: “MS-13 is taking control of Germantown, Gaithersburg. People in Asbury [Methodist Village, a senior community] don’t even want to go outside of the house." Queue the video of Asbury residents taking leisurely walks outside. LOL. https://bethesdamagazine.com/2022/10/24/elrich-promotes-white-flint-development-deals-during-forum-sullivan-criticizes-job-losses-rising-crime-in-county/ |
| And if you still think Sullivan wasn't embellishing what he heard from residents when he LITERALLY SAID they are afraid to leave their homes, take a look at the Montgomery County Crime Map and look up how much violent crime there is in the Asbury community. Spoiler alert, there hasn't been much if any. |

I am a Democrat for Sully. I don’t think he’s misrepresenting himself. He was involved in many primary debates along with the Democratic candidates and it was explicitly stated (and I thought understood) that he was the leading Republican candidate.
|
It's gated and fenced. They'll walk outdoors inside their protected community, but don't feel safe leaving. But you knew that.... |
Nope. I’m saying that people should —and usually do — get information from multiple sources, and that if someone recommends ONE source of information, I’m surprised that they would choose Bethesda Beat. It’s a big county. Not everyone is Bethesda-centric in their interests and reading materials. There’s a lot of “actual press” out there. Why pick only the Bethesda Beat? |
Really? Much, if any? When I look at the map I see literally dozens of incidents across the street from the community. Assault, crime, theft. Literally in the apartments across Goshen on Crestwood. And that's just one apartment complex. You see it surrounding the area entirely This is the last 6 months for Crestwood & Trento, and only assaults. Many drug and theft charges as well. This is LITERALLY across the street from their community 4/18 -Assault. 2nd Degree 5/30 - Assault. 2nd Degree 7/19 - Aggravated Assault with a Weapon 8/1 - Assault. 2nd Degree 10/15 - Assault. 2nd Degree 10/22 - Assault. 2nd Degree I haven't even looked at the cases in the townhouses off Girard or the Apartment on the other side of Odendhal, but at first glance, there are multiple more assaults to list. All surrounding their community Would you feel comfortable, especially if you were more vulnerable due to age, if your block was average more than 1 assault a month? I wouldn't. And I would be asking my elected officials for help. These are senior citizens. Try to show a little compassion |
You don’t think that a poster for a Republican candidate should mention that he’s a Republican candidate —when the word DEMOCRATS is highlighted in campaign materials? My point is that it was not “explicitly stated” on the poster that he was the leading Republican candidate, and, at least on publicly displayed campaign materials, assuming that something is “understood” by anyone who sees it is inappropriate at best and possibly deliberately deceiving. To be clear, I would be just as concerned if the parties were reversed, or different altogether. |
You're grasping at straws. Anyone who has been paying even the smallest bit of attention either knows that he's the R candidate, or knows that he's NOT the D candidate. As a PP said, if you're confused about if Elrich is the Republican or Dem candidate, or if Sully is the R or D, then you should probably sit this one out |
Don’t ruin the Sully bashing with actual facts, please. |
To add: I personally would have no problem with a “Democrats for Sully” poster — IF the poster prominently described him as the “leading Republican candidate “. I would view that as very effective marketing: I.e. Sully is so awesome that even Democrats support him. My concern is that it is not immediately clear in these materials that he’s a Republican— and I think this should be clearly and unmistakably stated in campaign materials. |
