^ agree with all of this! |
Yes, get tested for thyroid and maybe other hormones if possible. 37 is kind of young to have sudden weight issues and you don’t seem to eat that much. Portion size is the most important though, so use an app to track your food intake and see what it says. |
Nope, this might be a good day but there's no way you're eating like this consistently and gaining. No. Get honest with yourself. |
This one does. My salad has dark leafy greens, peppers, cucumber, celery, etc with a tbs of dressing. It takes time to eat and it fills me up. Paired with lean protein, a salad is the skinny girl's best tool in staying slim. |
Right?? Salad is a super healthy meal. I am thin and I’ve been enjoying salad for lunch for years. I do a nice bed of greens straight from my garden, a protein (usually chicken) and then mix up the other ingredients. Sometimes I’ll do avocado, a little salsa, beans and corn with tessemae ranch, or I’ll do goat cheese and dried cranberry with a vinaigrette. Yum. |
NP here who is 46, 5'7 and 130 lbs. The PP is right. I drink black coffee in the morning and between 12 and 6 pm I have only whole foods - meat, fish, tons of veggies, olive oil, plain full fat greek yogurt, nuts, and fruits. Barre, solidcore, lift weights and run. |
No I'm not an idiot. Are you an idiot? Have you seen a large cup of coffee and how much milk goes into it? Have you measured a "cup" of milk lately. Chances are she is in fact consuming 500 calories from her morning milk alone. That's huge. That's a whole meal. And she is left feeling hungry and thinking she's cutting back, which is simply, incorrect. |
A cup is 8 oz. My coffee mugs hold about… 8 oz. If the OP is really having “a cup of coffee with whole milk,” and not a latte or cafe au lait or some other coffee-flavored milk creation, she’s filling up her mug with coffee and adding 1-2 T of milk at the most. Over the course of the morning, maybe she’s consuming a total of a cup of milk. |
I think you should track what you eat for a week or two — like everything. Weigh it out etc and see how many calories you are really eating. I could easily consume a ton of calories eating a “fajita” dinner with the family.
OP I am going to be 37 in August and going through this as well. Even after three kids I was easily maintaining 135 and now my routine weight seems to be closer to 145 (I’m a bit shorter than you at 5’5. I just can’t eat as much as I used to. Im doing the whole 30 for July to refresh which will get the 10 pounds off — but I need to reevaluate my eating habits after. |
I'd be more interested in hearing what OP's cup contains than yours. Yours is irrelevant. |
^^plus you're really aggressive. |
It sounds like you could do some small substitutions to see if that has an effect: unsweetened almond milk in coffee instead of whole milk, avocado and a dressing of balsamic vinegar (truly only the vinegar) and salt and pepper for salad instead of caesar dressing and cheese, and unfortunately you may not be able to eat your family's dinner. Those sound like yummy meals but very heavy calorically.
I'm in the same boat as you, late thirties, gained a little weight, it's time for a real schedule of workouts and cutting out the little indulgences that have crept in at least until the holidays ![]() |
You can’t say that because you have no idea about her portion sizes. |
Fat people say eating healthy is aneroxic |
Thanks for saying that, the aggressive post was in response to mine. I wonder if it is a knee jerk reaction to hearing the truth. If you want to stay fat, keep eating, is what I have learned, if you want to slim down, look at what you're eating and change / reduce it. |
