I checked by driving distance. Not a straight line. Nobody can go straight line by commute |
We paid more for a house zoned to QO and would never have paid that for a house zoned to Watkins Mill or Gaithersburg HS. So yes, people pay do more even if it is a small difference. As an FYI - SFH zoned for QO can go up to and beyond a million. |
You're forgetting the walkable neighborhoods on Fields Road. |
Both Brown Station and Fields Road are closer to Gaithersburg than to QO. And both Travilah and Dufief are closer to QO (also against the traffic) than Brown Station and Fields Road. Since QO does not have a vocal community like Wootton it was convenient to bus kids all the way from Muddy Branch to us, while passing by Dufief. And Travilah - don't even get me started - they can come through QO Rd to QO - its just 2 miles. But they pay a premium for their houses and go 4+ miles to Wootton. If MCPS has any sense, they will move these schools to QO. To the poster who said poor Dufief, I also said Travilah needs to move. |

PP
Fields Rd is closer to Wootton than either Dufief or Travilah so they belong with Wootton more than these two schools. |
|
Bring on your lawsuits Wootton - you may not move to Crown, but you sure as hell will be rezoned and that is the way it should be. You have no legal standing when MCPS says they rezoned some of you because of proximity.

+1. And I'm not usually one to support lawyers, but in this case your attorney fees act as a sort of Karen tax. |
Are you talking about closing Wootton or just rezoning some to crown? They’re completely different issues |
Replacing the Wootton building with the Crown building, and rezoning some to Gaithersburg and RM. |
Wow at first it’s Wootton is just moved there Then it’s we’re just adding crown Then it became we are adding fields road Then we need to rezone Dufief and cold spring Now it’s rezone some to Gaithersburg and RM We knew it. It’s not just moving Wootton to crown. It’s closing Wootton and spread Wootton assets around. |
Boo hoo. |
That's on them, especially if they overpaid. |
Sounds like we'd all be better off invested in the idea that all schools should be good. |
| There seems to be a much higher priority for Wootton parents on keeping the Wootton pkwy building open than on keeping the 6 ES’s together articulating together to the same school. |
I would say that’s probably true. Many of them are split up between Wootton and Churchill after middle school anyway. We are extremely close to Wootton. Would have no problem with some movement where other very close in schools got redistricted to Wootton and those much further out redistricted elsewhere-but I want the school where it is. |
