Do any of the proposals move Wootton kids to Gaithersburg HS? That's what I'd like to see.
You need to get a life. Fantasizing others suffer is just evil.
Going to Gaithersburg HS is "suffering"? Sounds like we need more people with money to have a stake in the game.
Forcing students to be bused miles away from a high-performing, stable school to a lower-performing school is no harm? Longer commutes, disruption to their coursework and supporting peers are real impact on our children.
It will be good for them to get out of their country club bubble wrapped existence.
I don’t think you have ever actually been to a Wootton neighborhood. Because I have lived in one for 10 years and don’t know a single family who is privileged the way you think they are. And I certainly don’t know anyone in my neighborhood who belongs to a country club. I really think you must have us confused with Whitman or private schools.
If your response to attending a HS 3 miles away is "Fantasizing others suffer is just evil".... you need to get out more. Your kids will benefit. Exploring their world more than 2 miles beyond their home might give them an awesome college essay topic. And Lakewood Country Club is right by Wootton.
People pay hundreds of thousands and live in much smaller houses than they would otherwise to be close to schools. This is reality you can go into Zillow or redfin. Take Urbana for example. Houses around Urbana HS are much smaller and cost much more than ones even a mile or two away. We happen to be shopping for house now. This is the reality. House half a mile from the schools costs the same as one two miles from the schools but is older, half as big, smaller lot, etc.
Sounds like we'd all be better off invested in the idea that all schools should be good.
