Centreville had their best players back yet were outworked by South Lakes and couldn't keep up with their speed. Centreville's coach won't change the game plan regardless how the game is going. |
Isn’t that the job of a coach, the joy of coaching, to have a challenge each year with new kids coming in and learning/teaching/molding/meshing together a team? And in doing so, being successful and having wins or getting them to work as one unit? If you’re just a coach hopping from one power house to the next, what are you really teaching or learning? KJ has coaches decades of talented players, sent countless ones to further the future of the sport. Her wisdom and knowledge of the game is emmense, most definitely more than anyone on this board (especially all the wonderful dads furiously typing constantly on this board, who by the way, have never played this sport). Players might be paying to go to her program, for all the above, but then take into account the hs coaches who have stuck with programs for years and years and years and believe in the longer outcome regardless of short term talent. That’s who should be respected and celebrated. More positivity and celebration doesn’t ever take away from anyone, but that might be lost on many as this board seems to show. |
What is your game plan? |
Replacing or restringing a stick every year is ridiculous. You WANT your pocket to break in. You want to have the same pocket / shaft and head as long as you can. Most of the top players in mens and womens game will use the same stick as long as possible for the confidence and consistency |
Says the field player parent. |
KJ is the history. She literally started the program at St. Agnes before the merger. Has won all but one ISL championships that have ever been held. If she went to any of the ISL A (lower tier division) schools, they'd be AA in a year and AA champions in 2-3 years. |
We went out and it was a not a great night All in all. Got pulled over by a Gomer for 8 over (warning), parking was jacked up with steakheads in their Hondas and mustangs and no darn BBQ. Weird night, neither team looked top 10 in Virginia lacrosse. It was a very ugly, sloppy game. South lakes was less ugly. Cville just didn’t look like the team we saw a few weeks ago. Injuries? SL was almost as bad. A bit biased reffing (why do refs seem to one side?) but who cares? Cville goalie was on point after she figured it out. Cville draw was not good. SL needs to work on their 8 meters. Refs sucked. Since I have no fight in this, Not a good game all around. Neither team was all that great. 2 out of 10 stars (lost 1 because we wanted their bbq). Side note: Announcer was ON tonight! He really is fun to listen to. |
In a thread full of douche baggery, you just won it!!! You’re probably that assclown that pulled up to the fall brawl with his FF and demanded from a bunch of teenage kids that they give you a rock star parking spot because “I’m driving a Ferrari and I need it.” They laughed at you when you left if it was. You’re a douche bag! And no amount of money will fix that. |
Congrats! I was on the wrong side of this one. Didn't see that coming with four D1 commits on the field for Centreville. |
I am quickly becoming a south lakes fan as I love to root for a good underdog. I’m predicting that they upset oakton in regional play. I say regional because most of the top teams in the district will make it to regionals (minus the seeding) and that’s where the fun starts.
It’s just a hunch in the prediction but rooting for south lakes. |
Unfortunately having D1 commits is not the key to success. Playing as a team is. People seem to throw around the D1 name tag like it’s a game changer. Remember there are 120 D1 women’s programs. Once you get past the top 30 teams the level of play and talent drops quickly. I’ve seen teams win state championships with far fewer college commits. What matters is having a solid goalie and 11 field players with solid stick skills who all play well as a team. |
Correct on the D1 commits comment! Teams win. The current ranked #1 team has only 2 D1 commits supporting this train of thought. Even though the 2 that they have are excellent players, the team as a whole gets it done. Having played Oakton, Madison and South Lakes I don’t think South Lakes will beat Oakton. Madison has a much better shot. Fun starts next week. Oakton and Madison have had all week to rest their players due to easy week. |
Last year’s class 6 state champs had no D1 commits. So there’s that. |
Great point! But wasn't Yorktown loaded 5 or 6 future or potential D1 players (Pride Black) -- also very well coached and played as a team. |
Couldn’t say. But no D1 commits. And they beat Langley when it mattered who had 5 D1 commits I think. |
