Negotiation while someone holds hostage is called extortion. |
What happens to healthcare if paychecks are held hostage? |
It continues. Check your guidance. |
LOL, you’ll never see the cries for capitulation come so fast if some old Dems think they’ll have to miss a doctor’s appointment! |
That’s only for the regular health plan not the dental and vision. Those will be billing enrommees after two missed payments. |
The shutdown will be over by Friday. Trump will cave, declare victory, and his minions won't know the difference. |
when the saints go marching in . . . . |
I was the one who originally asked. My friend was worried about setting up dental appointments for herself and her three kids. And she needs a mouthguard on top of everything else! |
Take a look through this. She won’t be able to make a claim against the FsA until the shutdown is over though she should (as I understand it) be able to claim FSA reimbursement for things done during the shutdown after the shutdown is over. She just has to make sure she pays her supplemental dental out of pocket when they start billing. https://www.fedweek.com/issue-briefs/opm-issues-status-update-on-benefits-during-shutdown/ |
Thank you for the info! |
Can we eventually sue Trump and GOP for extortion? Asking for a friend!? |
So you'd be ok being uninsured and your kids being uninsured? Having a medical emergency while uninsured could be financially catastrophic. I doubt the question was about missing an appointment. |
Your friend should sue Schumer or Pelosi first. We have three branches of government that must all agree to pass a funding bill. 1) President 2) House 3) Senate (60 votes) Paul Ryan's bill had the support of both the president and the house. It probably had the majority support in the senate as well. But Chuck Schumer filibustered it (It needs 60 votes to break a filibuster). So the December shutdown is clearly a Schumer shutdown. McConnell will bring another bill this week that -- 1) the president will sign and 3) the majority of the senate will support but may not be enough to break the 60-vote filibuster, but 2) Pelosi will not be on board. Democrats only hold one of the three branches. They need to compromise a little. |
This is patently incorrect. It's a Trump/McConnell shutdown. Not a Schumer shutdown. |
The shutdown is Trump and McConnell could end it if he weren't too scared of whatever Trump is blackmailing him with. |
