How long will the shutdown last?

So when food stamps are cut off, what do you suppose the people who have been depending on them will do?

I can give you two options:

1) starve to death
2) turn to crime out of desperation

most of the people on SNAP are in rural areas.

You know what happens when crime happens, correct?

The president blames people of color and imposes martial law?

At the March for Life, speakers talked about shutting down the Govt. over Planned Parenthood. If Dems give in to this, Individual One will do it again and again over his pet issues. Open the Govt. then negotiate about wall funding.

People of Color? Are you telling us people of color are the majority on welfare? Or just what are you saying?

Yep. GOP has no idea how to govern. We really need to bring back civics and school house rock.

At this point it is mostly open - they just aren’t paying the people they are recalling to work and of course they are making them work without support staff. Agency after agency has been asked to recall workers in response to pressure from lobbyists and in the interest of minimizinged the pain to people who might vote.
Agencies without powerful/ wealthy allies (EPA, Smithsonian, regulatory agencies) are likely to stay closed for as long as the shutdown continues. So for example, the IRS has recalled 46,000 workers to help process refunds but the workers who scrutinize dodgy returns are still furloughed

TSA is the weak link. It's just not good enough of a job to keeping working for free and as they start dropping out, it's going to be really noticeable.

Recruiting blueshirts for the TSA was already hard enough. It is a federal job without federal benefits; the hours are not consistent in most US cities and the pay is ok, but not great. I am going to posit that if this isn't solved soon, there will be cities, particularly in rural areas, where the airports will be negatively impacted for some time.

Ha, no. TSA is a great, secure job, particularly in rural areas. Those folks aren’t going anywhere. The government must remain shut until the Dems negotiate in good faith, whether that be one day, one week, one month, or one year!

ATL, DFW, JFK, IAD are not rural and TSA is not a great job.

+1

Trump couldn’t figure out how to negotiate legislation like an adult so he’s bullying the whole country.

If he wants to negotiate immigration, then do that. It has NOTHING to do with a furlough.

Blames undocumented people for crimes to heighten the “crisis”.

This. Ever since the tea party and Evangelical groups became ascendant the Republican Party has become a nihilist, “No nothing “ party who can’t govern

Some sick calls by lazy (or perhaps legitimately sick) TSA employees during the slowest travel month of the year is no big deal. Have you personally had to wait in long security lines, or are you just regurgitating the manufactured hysteria you saw on CNN?

Because one must not negotiate with terrorists. End of story.
