It is more disturbing that this blank check to Israel is entrenched in our leadership.

A United States representative even wore his Israeli military uniform to congress. I can’t imagine any elected official doing this for any other country and not being called a traitor.

This is so creepy and wrong. In theory Brian Mast represents Americans in Florida. In reality, this picture tells a very different story.

This is the IDF uniform. The same IDF that is committing genocide in Gaza.

You think Israel will fall and cease being a nation without U.S. support so this is why this is your focus now. You do not care about U.S. domestic issue and so called time being taken away from those (oh but anyway U.S. can do more than one thing at a time, support allies and take care of domestic issues)

Nope. People are reacting to the fact that this guy supposedly represents the U.S. first and foremost, but he’s parading around in another country’s uniform.

You don’t get how our government works then. His constituents elected him, not you.

He’s voting in issues that impact others outside of his constituency. You don’t understand how representative government works.

Also, if his constituents fully support this, I wonder where their first loyalties are.

I doubt he ran for office on a platform or pledging allegiance to foreign militaries so I’m betting his constituents did not expect this!

I bet his constituents LOVE it. I wouldn’t love it, but he’s not my guy on the hill. The US had all kinds of people in it.

How would you feel about a Muslim-American in Congress wearing the military uniform of his ancestral country? Would the same standards apply? I highly doubt it.

Nope wouldn't like it but oh well I am sure you have double standards. Such as Hamas can attack due to decade of oppression from Israel but Isreal should stop its attacks because Palestinians have babies.

I’m able to see these are two completely different issues. Question is why can you?

Can’t

This is GENOCIDE no matter what you say. Half the Palestinian population is under 18. Do you guys have no shame? Do you guys not fear your God? Do you think your God will be in favor of taking the lives of these innocent children?

This in insanity. This mindless bombing is not killing Hamas. It is creating more Hamas members by killing people’s entire families and making them harbor even more resentment towards their occupiers. Netanyahu couldn’t care less about getting Hamas. Hamas actually helps his agenda. Pretty sure he willfully ignored the signs of an imminent Hamas attack because it gave him the perfect excuse to go in and annihilate the Palestinian population. There is no way the IDF and Mossad did not know what was coming with all their intelligence and support from the U.S. The IDF just wants to kill all Palestinians and the world is just watching as this genocide is taking place. What a sad world to raise our kids in.

The blame falls on Hamas.

Nobody disputes this. But the question to Israelis who care is what is your responsibility? Palestinian children being killed in your name should really make you stop and think. And do not use the “this is war” excuse. Palestinians are not a free people able to make choices for themselves. They are under military occupation. They are not recognized internationally. Half their population (in Gaza) is under 18. It’s not a fair fight. Open your hearts and realize you have a duty to these kids just as you have a duty to Jewish citizens.

Yep this is war don't start a war you can't fight. You are the one who failed your women and children, hiding behind their skirts now.

It IS war though. Palestine is not occupied by Israel (or, it wasn’t until this week, looks like it might be headed there). The government of Gaza attacked Israel. Inconvenient facts.

If North Korea attacked South Korea, we wouldn’t hesitate to support South Korea just because North Korean citizens are oppressed by their government.

I want peace. I want the bombing to stop. I want you to engage in a conversation about what happens after that, but you won’t.

What are you referencing about Germany? If it’s the holocaust, that crime doesn’t give Israel the right to perpetuate a genocide on an unrelated population.

They are not two different issues. It is just that death and destruction of non Palestinian people is utterly meaningless to you. You can't fathom why Israel would go to war over 10/7. Why would garbage fight for itself?

You are mad because I exposed your line of reasoning. You resort to name calling. You didn't say what I said is wrong. It is what you believe.

Hamas doesn’t care about the babies and children that are dying. They love it, martyrs all. I don’t see a whole lot of rage directed at them though. It’s weird.

Anyway, I think rational people can agree this is a horrible situation and peace talks must happen. I’d like to see everyone that cares about human life to mobilize in that direction instead of aligning themselves with causes they don’t understand.

Crickets again.

Guessing a "single state solution" that effectively ends Israel as a Jewish state.

The Israeli government doesn’t care about their own citizens held hostage. It’s clear those poor souls have been written off.

That is a very wonderful and useful rhetoric

All that aside, I do not see peace as a reality. There would have to be major concessions on both sides and a concrete plan for how to implement the 2 state solution,

If peace doesn’t come, I see Israel as inevitably being at war with more nations

So you don’t want to engage in the question? What do you want?

DP. All Israeli rhetoric starts with a clever tactic in which the Israeli maximalist position is objective and the starting point of any negotiation. Nope. Every country on earth has learned to leave brutal conflict and enemies in the past and forge new paths forward. It would take good faith negotiations and hard choices by Israel.

Israel’s chosen path has been total annihilation of rivals, citing World War II doctrine. That position has alway relied on leveraging the US and the West as its shield. It is not a feasible long term strategy. Israel has lost Western support for generations and spooked all neighbors who now see it plainly as a country aiming for regional dominance. Israel is in a very vulnerable position of its own doing. It will be bled to death economically and militarily by a long drawn war that it created.

Cool, now do Ukraine.

We seem to support Israel for ever. Ukraine is for a specific period. If Israel will collapse without massive US support, they need to figure out how to get along in the region. Jews like to act like Israel is amazing but it is nothing without the US. Get real and stop living in your imaginary world.

Ukraine will collapse without US support. Israel falling would have very grave consequences for the US. Are you unaware of what those are?

That is the point they don't care. Isreal needs to fail and if the U.S. along with oh well. They will just take all the money they made in this country as economic migrants and move to whatever country replaces Isreal.

The future of the US is not in any way contingent on the future of Israel. I wish we could cut virtually all support of Israel.
