NP. Just wanted to point out that airbnb cancelled those reservations AND paid the hosts their lost profits.

Those that voluntarily blocked get nothing.

This is actually a business decision.

Here’s the thing- any business that hosts (aids and assists) and insurrection will be audited. So this decision is to prevent any further auditing or investigations.

The other thing is that these déplorables will have a harder time to find places. So they will have to reach out to family and friends (which in the dmv people know that that is a no go if you are fed or contractor or anyone wanting a security clearance) and thus hotels will be the next in line.

Here’s the kicker- hotels have cameras everywhere.

If they go to a hotel and do something- the hotel has to release all of that video to the fbi. So I think hotels will be next.

But I also think this is the most amazing thing ever.

You are right that it is a business decision, but your idea that hosts would be aiding and abetting the "insurrection" and subject to investigation for doing so is batty. That is not what aiding and abetting means in a legal context.

Perhaps. But would you really want to have someone search your home or perform arrests at your property?

The fact is that it’s not worth the inconvenience. Dirty Money is still dirty money.

The chance of a hosts property getting searched is exceedingly low, as is the chance of someone getting arrested there. The arrests almost all happened either onsite or well afterwards.

As for "dirty" money, green is green. If you don't damage my property, what you do while visiting the city is none of my business.
