Black Ops for WSYL

Correct. Here is a shortlist of the east qualifiers. Don’t forget that the 100 mile rule really benefits the northern New Jersey teams due to high population density. I’m sure there will be a couple more coming out of the woodwork from Philly, Baltimore or Northern NJ.

BBL
Tigers xxvi
Hawks
Madlax Monuments
Black Ops

So as a minimum, one of these teams won’t be advancing and Hawks and Tigers are very strong. So if you are a strong player on Top Caliber All Stars you will get to enjoy the East qualifier but you will be watching the WSYL from the stands.

If you live in the DC area you need to be on Black Ops or Madlax to have any hope of participating Fourth of July weekend.

2027’s may make these teams but they will not be difference makers. If they were that good they would already be playing up on 2026 teams.

Thank you for this context. I am trying to decide whether Black Ops is worth the time and money, so it is good to see who we would be competing against. Why are none of the Baltimore teams (Crabs, Looneys, 91) part of the discussion?

Intel is limited on the Baltimore teams, however, word on the street is they are cooking up their WS team.

If my son is on a B team at one of the Black Ops clubs, does he have shot at making the team? He should have made the A team last summer but in a crazy year was placed on B team after tryouts, He's hoping to move after this year but Black ops sounds like a good option to develop as a player if they have good coaching!

The coaches selecting the team don’t know any of the players, so in theory, if he is a top player he would be selected.

Unless he significantly leap-frogged through skill or by physical growth - no chance.

Look, the coaches are obviously going to know their players. If someone not on their A team or an outsider blows them away, of course they will add them. They want to win because it will raise the profile of their clubs.

3 jokes of programs. Would be shocked if they even qualify.

How about Cavalier. A few years ago they had a top ranked team that entered?

Cavalier has never had a good team at any age.

But doesn't Crabs own VLC?

no

If Black Ops and Monument combined, and they put in serious practice time as a team, they would have a team as good or better than Hawks and Tigers.

Often when a talented player who belongs on an A team is not picked, there is a reason. The reason could be hustle, coachability, commitment, relationships with teammates, sportsmanship, and believe it or not, how much respect the players’s parents show toward the coaches and the team. So if your son was not put on an A team where be belongs talent-wise, instead of chalking it up to a crazy year, you should talk honestly to your son, and maybe the coaches, to find out why. The coaches at both BLC and NextLevel are the kind of guys who would be happy to give honest feedback why your son was not picked. That discussion might help him if he does try out for Black Ops or whatever new club. Good luck!

Agreed but that will never happen.

This makes zero sense. Talent is what gets kids on the A team. You obviously do not have experience on an A team. The best kids often have a terrible attitude, are difficult to coach, and have the worst parents on the team.
