In an effort to provide information and not start a club bashing thread I'll provide this information that just came out this morning from my daughters club but I will not provide the club name

"we will provide fair and equitable modifications to our programming through appropriate options including refunds and/or program credits"
also they noted that they are committed to paying their coaches and staff through the end of june/spring season

My son plays for the same club. I am glad that they are committed ti keeping the coaches employed. However, I am slightly worried that there may be an expectation for academy players to play in the summer if they want their spots back or to move up in the future. If the health crisis resolves, I was planning to send my child to spend part of the summer with his cousins, as we do every year.

It’s good the Board is committed to paying the Director his $300k+ per year... ridiculous

100-240K people estimated to die, and you are still griping about that? WTF is wrong with you. If it bothers you that much, have your kid play elsewhere next time. I'm not thrilled about it either, but I've made the decision that playing closer to home is better for our lives, and so I'm moving on with my life.

Well how privileged of you that you can just be so “right”. I have bills to pay and no income now. I need the money to pay the utilities, food, etc. wow, some people just live in their own perfect self righteous bubble and can’t imagine someone else having a different set of circumstances. I’m very sorry people will die, if some people will also starve, go homeless, etc.

Just curious, did the board ever address this issue? I seem to recall some discussion about a letter last fall.

Seriously? You people are obsessed with this board and this guy tommy park. Go on with your lives already. If it bothers you so much leave the club or get a seat on the board and solve what you see as a huge problem.
Asking some forum for answers to something that so clearly bothers you seems like you are not getting the answers you need. If youd like I will look up online the phone number to Alexandria Soccer and I'll post it here for you so you can call over there yourself and get the answer you so desperately need. Will that make you feel better?

I agree with you. There isn't enough empathy for others right now who are out of work and really looking at a challenging year. I think the club will work with you immediately on this issue if you reach out.

If that were the case, I really[b] doubt that Tommy Parks would be your top concern. You already paid, everyone already knew he was overpaid before any of this happened, and they said they will refund if there isn't a season. Don't pay for it again if you are so unhappy. Or go to another club next time. You are not a prisoner at Alexandria, there are other clubs, and you don't need to pay for any travel soccer at all next time if it doesn't work for your family and circumstances.

Or maybe the Board should take action and correct the problem. They have a duty to act in the best interests of the club and paying someone 3 times market rate is not benefitting the club. They are taking money which should be spent on the kids and giving it away irresponsibly. I can only imagine what other shenanigans is going on.

IF that were the case? Wow. You are pretty rude.

Yeah, I don't believe you either. Why should we? You have subverted this thread with multiple lies already.

E.g., at least six lies packed into three sentences.

Pretty sure the thread-crapper is one person.

Not the OP, but what do you think are the six lies?

Coaches are no more special then any other employee that has been laid off. Please return some money to families that now need it. Shame on you Mclean, Loudoun. Not every one of your players is from your zip!

Are McLean and Loudoun keeping everyone’s fees?
Anonymous
We own our own business and our income stream has evaporated. We have stopped paying ourselves in order to pay our employees so we don't have to lay anyone off. Those SB loans aren't coming right away and I am not even sure if we will get one. So yeah, every single dollar right now counts.

I am also a parent of two Alexandria soccer players. When I found out this season how much the director makes I was really shocked. Upwards of $375,000. He needs to do what many other people, like us, are doing . Take a paycut to help others. Give me an f-ing break with the Tommy Park boosters and the complete bs "Well I don't believe you" re money problems. This is really happening to many people. Tomorrow it could be happening to you. JFC.

Loudoun sent out an email yesterday saying that even though the Governor’’s Executive Order extends the shelter in place until June 10th, the spring season is not canceled. People that were registered for Spring Rec soccer that have asked for refunds haven’t been given anything. The season never started and won’t happen before the season was supposed to end. Travel is a 10 month deal and 7 months happened (and coaches are paid), so I understand clubs not granting refunds, but don’t see how you don’t for a season that won’t happen and where none of the coaches (ie rec) get paid.

Ahhh I see, your business is struggling so Tommy Park needs to take a pay cut. Makes total sense. Lets just redistribute everyones wealth. Lets not stop at Tommy Park.

Well the income wasn’t allowed in the first place, so yeah he needs to take a pay cut and payback the prior years non-allowed income.
