I'm talking about refunds for a tournament that didn't happen.

I think the issues are more like: 1) ED salary is and has been way above market and the Board hasn’t explained or justified why; 2) The board sent an email where they state they are committed to paying this salary in these times when most are taking pay cuts; 3) The club is taking 60% of a tournament fee for an event that didn’t happen. Taken together, it seems like this Board and club are all about sticking it to their members and customers.

ASK is only refunding 40% of fees. That's gross now that I know how much their ED is paid.

Where did you get the information about a 40% refund? I haven't received any information about what amount would be refunded and what you could use as a credit. Is it 40 percent of the amount you paid for the year, vs. season? Year would make sense to me, season seems insane.

You’re confusing tournament fee with player fee. ASK fee is the team fee for participating in the ASK tournament. Player fees haven’t been addressed, first they need to cover all their staff salaries before they even think about the players.

I see, thanks. Well, I do think they should try to cover the coaches' salaries before they make refunds to players.

They said they will. The Board is very close to the staff and coaches. Most of the board members haven’t had kids in the program for a long time so they’ve kind of adopted the staff and look out for their needs.

Our coach has been holding bi-weekly zoom training sessions for the kids, so he has been working, albeit not as much as usual. It has been helpful in keeping the kids' spirits up.

Nobody is saying they are special. But for my family, they are important, and I am happy to support them and others, whether I know them personally or not. Those who can step up, should. Those who need help should get it from their clubs in the form of refunds. It is not a zero-sum world unless you think you benefit when others do not, and vice-versa.

+. Our kids coach too has been important for them right now. We are small business owners and it’s rough. But I don’t begrudge the coach. They can provide something I can’t

Arlington just sent an email out announcing:

While we have been hopeful about resuming soccer activities, given the current circumstances, we have decided to cancel the spring programs for Rec Soccer, ADP, Mini Soccer, Junior Academy and Pre-Academy. Unfortunately, given the Governor’s stay-at-home order and the closure of Arlington County facilities, the prospect of a traditional spring season is no longer realistic.

Travel is still on hold.
