At least partial reimbursement should be part of the conversation.

Yes. We are down a lot of income. And our soccer fees are approx $3500-4000. Some reimbursement should be given. Zero spring season happened.

$3500!? My DS is in his first travel season, we’re in the bottom team of our club (U11). Is that what costs look like later? Or is that for the “higher level” teams?

Yes, and for ECNL or DA it is significantly more.

Not true. The big difference is travel costs between ECNL/DA teams and other teams. Typically, Club fees are about the same or mostly proportional to the increased number of practices for ECNL/DA level teams. There are some exceptions, but many of the lower level teams have to bring in revenue for the clubs.

It is true. But go ahead and try to BS everyone here Coach. I know. Firsthand. Clown.

BRYC ECNL fees are $2150 per year for ECNL.

Not true. My ECNL bill was not that high. Travel costs, however, are additive and can get certainly (significantly) add to the yearly total.

Anyone know if leagues are giving refunds back to the teams when they cancel the season?

USYS cancelled all national championships and any regional and state cup games leading up to them.

Will fields never open again? Are fall sports cancelled?

No, you must put everything on pause and remember that life will never be the same yada yada yada etc etc etc. Those of you who are smart are planning now and getting your kids into the appropriate mentality, which is to be safe and prudent now BECAUSE there is stuff to do in the future. Don't let the killjoys, uh, kill joy. These were the kids who were the hall monitors in junior high or prefects in boarding schools. Thanks for your service and leave the rest of us alone, please.

Are prefects really a thing? Not just in Harry Potter?

Clearly you didn’t go to Phillips Academy. Are you even allowed to post on DCUM?

We need to change ‘Anonymous’ to ‘Anonymous-Commoner’ and ‘Anonymous-Highfalutin’.

In an effort to provide information and not start a club bashing thread I'll provide this information that just came out this morning from my daughters club but I will not provide the club name

"we will provide fair and equitable modifications to our programming through appropriate options including refunds and/or program credits"
also they noted that they are committed to paying their coaches and staff through the end of june/spring season

My son plays for the same club. I am glad that they are committed ti keeping the coaches employed. However, I am slightly worried that there may be an expectation for academy players to play in the summer if they want their spots back or to move up in the future. If the health crisis resolves, I was planning to send my child to spend part of the summer with his cousins, as we do every year.

100-240K people estimated to die, and you are still griping about that? WTF is wrong with you. If it bothers you that much, have your kid play elsewhere next time. I'm not thrilled about it either, but I've made the decision that playing closer to home is better for our lives, and so I'm moving on with my life.

Yep, got the same email from Alexandria. Also, I was told by an ASA coach that the academy coaches (for the younger kids) are considered independent contractors and only get paid when a session occurs. So if there is a weather cancellation for example, they don’t get paid. Hence this coach told me those academy coaches weren’t getting paid now. The ASA email seems to conflict with that. And I don’t think Tommy Parks needs to keep paying himself his enormous salary. Plenty of heads of companies are taking pay cuts voluntarily right now and it would be nice to see him do the right thing as well.

Well how privileged of you that you can just be so “right”. I have bills to pay and no income now. I need the money to pay the utilities, food, etc. wow, some people just live in their own perfect self righteous bubble and can’t imagine someone else having a different set of circumstances. I’m very sorry people will die, if some people will also starve, go homeless, etc.
