why do people care if Kate Middleton wants to be a SAHM?

You should do an AMA so we can understand more about your obsessive personality. You are exaggerating on so many levels, and you “seem” to know a lot. I also think you have some kind of personal stake in seeing the monarchy fall. You seem almost gleeful as you write it.

K&w will have many years ahead to increase their work. Maybe, also, they don’t agree with the queen’s exact approach. Maybe, one or both has developed tremendous anxiety. Maybe they have regular terror threats against them and their tiny children. It could be anything..the point is you don’t know.

Back off and see how they do in five years.

Hi anti-KMH, I was wondering when you'd show up. Did you get the kids all settled in after the MDay trip? Good, why don't you read through the thread and come up with some new arguments. Though the 'they have failing mental health and anxiety' is certainly a new one! Thx, bai.

If we can all applaud the modernization of the monarchy in accepting and celebrating a divorced biracial American as the wife of prince #2, why can't we do the same for the wife of prince #1 if she wants to be around her kids when they're young? Good for all of them, let them live their lives as they wish and be happy.

Because she campaign for the role of future Queen of England, not wife of a millionaire. She should have married Pippa's husband for that.

And secondly - being a mom at home is nothing revolutionary - so please don't compare it to the marriage of the first non-white person into the British Royal Family.

In fact, women fought long-and-hard for the right to be seen as equals around the world and some are still fighting. Ireland just voted to make abortion legal LAST NIGHT for god's sake. While this lazy sop is taking us all back to every time period pre-1920s by being exactly what we think she is - a layabout.

I wonder if people who defend William if he decided to stop working and look after Charlotte and George.

SAHMs are somehow projecting themselves onto Kate.

Kate is a WORKING member of the BRF. She NEEDS to be working. If shes not showing up to work she needs to be fired.

What's this "work" you keep crowing about? She's not some surgeon who could be off saving people's lives. Your talking about her making public appearances at events. That's hardly something to get so excited about. She has three kids under the age of five. She's plenty busy.

You think she's first royal to have a child? That none of the other royals had kids?

Princess Anne has 2.
Prince Edward has 2.
Prince Andrew has 2.
Prince Charles has 2.
Princess Margaret had 2.
Queen Elizabeth has 4.

Every single one of these people are born Royals and has worked harder than Kate ever has from the time they were in their 20s to the current date. Every single one is now in their late 70s - 90s and STILL has a schedule more packed than Kate and William. At this point in their lives they should be slowing down and the younger royals picking up the pace so they can actually rest, but they can't. Luckily Meghan and Harry seem interested in helping them out.

?? Princess Margaret had a good ole time! I wouldn't hold her up as someone who was working hard and focused on her children.

Plus only two of those on the list was raising direct heirs to the throne. (So much more pressure)

I notice Kate-hater left Diana off the list of people raising children and doing working events. She wrote Charles, but not Diana, ha ha. Like Charles was busy raising them day in and day out.

Wow. Diana wasn't a born royal or didn't you know that?

I don't know why everyone is so concerned with Kate? What exactly is Camilla doing? Her husband is next in line.

Out of Royal spouses Camilla is actually the #1 hardest working Royal. Out of the Royals at large she has the 5th most events and regularly does 2X - 3X the number of events Kate does who is dead last. Princess Alexandra at 81-years-old beats her totals.

+1

Meghan is clearly a hard worker.

Who will now curtsy to Kate. Lol.

So what? You realize that Kate herself has to curtsy to Beatrice and Eugenia when she isn’t with William?

She wasn’t pregnant for 10 months, 40 weeks is not 10 months. Plus you aren’t pregnant for the first 2 weeks.
38 weeks is more like 8 months.

40 weeks divided by roughly 4 weeks in a month equals roughly 10 months.

Math is not your strong suit, huh?

Not every month is exactly 4 weeks.

They will be around for the next generation, if only for marketing.

Like every other country that ditched their monarchy. It's not uncommon.

It is a great tourist boost for Britain.

I see this a lot and I wonder how true it is. I definitely think that the palaces or whatnot are a boost but I wonder if the actual family itself is. Seems like a lot of European countries have a lot of castles people go see on vacation. Plus what is particularly special about the UKs royal family? I’ve never heard this argument for some place like Spain or any other place that still has royals.

No one cares if Kate Middleton wants to be a SAHM, as long as the American tax payers aren't paying for it.

I'm an American.

The only Royals I know of in America won the 1985 and the 2015 World Series of Baseball.

LoL! Good one!

A lot of white American Millennial women, and now I suppose the multi-racials ones, too, believe they are like the descendants of Royalty from England. Not quite.

She accomplished nothing in life on her own from the time she entered college. It's as if her sole purpose of being was to marry Will. They called her Waity Katy for a reason. She waited for 7 or 8 years for Will, and during that time, she took off work. She didn't "do" charity work. All she did was party and shop during those years. She is typical of a lot of upper class Millennials.

She took a gamble, and she won.

If you're the young woman reproducing the heirs to the throne, why do anything else? She probably feels that she's getting the rewards in life from just being a starfish and breeding. That is a job in and of itself.

Anonymous wrote:Wow, shocked by all the Kate hate. How is it wrong for her to want to raise her kids? Who really suffers when she skips yet another ball or reception? In 20 years no one will remember or care except her kids.

She's probably at home watching Netflix and drinking wine, while the kids run around screaming. Then the nanny takes them.

NP. I have posted on this thread. I made the post about how I think some posters here are taking this discussion oddly personally. I have literally never posted anything about Kate Middleton ever on DCUM before this thread and I have posted on DCUM for years.

I find this discussion interesting because I used to live in the UK and the difference in how people in the UK perceive the monarchy now versus 20 years ago when I lived there is palpable. Some other poster on this thread said that he or she isn't sure that Prince George will ever take the throne, and now I think that is actually possible, which is shocking to me. It is surprising to me how fast public sentiment has changed in the UK, and I think a lot of that is due to the behavior of the younger royals, including Kate.

Your post certainly hasn't changed my opinion that people are being weirdly defensive on this thread. Trying to dismiss a variety of posters as one likely imaginary poster with a supposed vendetta against Kate Middleton is a prime example of bizarre defensiveness.

I love how invested some SAHMs are about Kate Middleton’s ability to not work.
