why do people care if Kate Middleton wants to be a SAHM?

What is great Britain without the royal family?

They will be around for the next generation, if only for marketing.

Like every other country that ditched their monarchy. It's not uncommon.

By the next generation Great Britain may not be around anymore let alone the monarchy. 2/3rds of Ireland already peaced out and the other sliver is making more noise ever since Brexit.

Can it really be called great with nothing but Scotland and Wales to add on?

Meghan is clearly a hard worker.

Lol. She’s been a member of the family for a week. Let’s see how it goes.

Who started doing official Royal events five months before the wedding even happened.

Give credit where its due. I think she might actually outwork Wills + Kate even during her honeymoon period which is legitimately insane. She's certainly forced Kate to actually do some work mid-pregnancy which was previously unheard of.

Apparently, if they loose the last of Ireland it would revert to the 'Kingdom of Great Britain'. It's only United with Ireland.

If they loose Scotland as well, it'll just be the Kingdom of England.

She wasn’t pregnant for 10 months, 40 weeks is not 10 months. Plus you aren’t pregnant for the first 2 weeks.
38 weeks is more like 8 months.

40 weeks divided by roughly 4 weeks in a month equals roughly 10 months.

Math is not your strong suit, huh?

Makes perfect sense to me. 52 weeks per year/4 weeks month = 13 months per year, “roughly” speaking ?

To 23:59, that is not true that Kate never worked in her previous pregnancies. I remember seeing a British news show when she was pregnant with George and she was visiting military troops in the north of England in the snow. I actually thought she was pretty impressive for doing that, because I wouldn't want to be out in some remote snowy campsite while pregnant.

You mean this one?

She's visiting with England's equivalent of the cub scouts but I do give he props for that. Just wished she did it and actual troop visits and patronage visits for support, morale, and fundraising more often.

It is a great tourist boost for Britain.

If we can all applaud the modernization of the monarchy in accepting and celebrating a divorced biracial American as the wife of prince #2, why can't we do the same for the wife of prince #1 if she wants to be around her kids when they're young? Good for all of them, let them live their lives as they wish and be happy.

Because she campaign for the role of future Queen of England, not wife of a millionaire. She should have married Pippa's husband for that.

And secondly - being a mom at home is nothing revolutionary - so please don't compare it to the marriage of the first non-white person into the British Royal Family.

In fact, women fought long-and-hard for the right to be seen as equals around the world and some are still fighting. Ireland just voted to make abortion legal LAST NIGHT for god's sake. While this lazy sop is taking us all back to every time period pre-1920s by being exactly what we think she is - a layabout.

+100

I wonder if people who defend William if he decided to stop working and look after Charlotte and George.

SAHMs are somehow projecting themselves onto Kate.

Kate is a WORKING member of the BRF. She NEEDS to be working. If shes not showing up to work she needs to be fired.

What's this "work" you keep crowing about? She's not some surgeon who could be off saving people's lives. Your talking about her making public appearances at events. That's hardly something to get so excited about. She has three kids under the age of five. She's plenty busy.

You think she's first royal to have a child? That none of the other royals had kids?

Princess Anne has 2.
Prince Edward has 2.
Prince Andrew has 2.
Prince Charles has 2.
Princess Margaret had 2.
Queen Elizabeth has 4.

Every single one of these people are born Royals and has worked harder than Kate ever has from the time they were in their 20s to the current date. Every single one is now in their late 70s - 90s and STILL has a schedule more packed than Kate and William. At this point in their lives they should be slowing down and the younger royals picking up the pace so they can actually rest, but they can't. Luckily Meghan and Harry seem interested in helping them out.

?? Princess Margaret had a good ole time! I wouldn't hold her up as someone who was working hard and focused on her children.

Wales is a principality of England - just like the U.S. Virgin Islands is a part of the United States of America. It's loss wouldn't remove the 'United' in United Kingdom nor the 'Great' in Great Britain as the Kingdom of England (with Wales within) was already established when Great Britain and the United Kingdom came about.

Kate hater, I think I know who you are.

You should do an AMA so we can understand more about your obsessive personality. You are exaggerating on so many levels, and you “seem” to know a lot. I also think you have some kind of personal stake in seeing the monarchy fall. You seem almost gleeful as you write it.

K&w will have many years ahead to increase their work. Maybe, also, they don’t agree with the queen’s exact approach. Maybe, one or both has developed tremendous anxiety. Maybe they have regular terror threats against them and their tiny children. It could be anything..the point is you don’t know.

Back off and see how they do in five years.
