This doesn't even answer the OP's question. It's not about learning to "tolerate" more whites in school. Any POC with a white collar job lives that reality everyday and has no illusions of expecting much different in school. What they want is to ensure their child's identity, confidence and emotional well-being isn't negatively affected in the process. I'm multi racial and grew up attending an all white school - very rarely was anyone outwardly mean or nasty because of my ethnicity, but that doesn't mean I always felt included and that being noticeably different didn't affect my self-esteem.

Maybe things have changed drastically in 20 years since I was in school since people are so dismissive of OPs concerns in this thread.

Yet, if you had been the only white kid in an all black school, you would have been slaughtered by them. Blacks tend to have less tolerance for whites when whites are the minority.

Uhhmmm..Slavery. Jim Crow. Voting Rights Act disabled. That statement is just factually incorrect. White people have committed domestic terrorism against minorities and black americans in particular for decades. We've done it through laws and just norms.

We (white people) have a bad history of literally slaughtering minorities. It doesn't work the other way around.

In case it allows you to let go of some of that White Guilt - It may be true in the Western World and in recent history that Whites have slaughtered minorities, but there are PLENTY of cultures all over the world (of various races) who slaughtered people who are different. It's not an exclusively White sin unfortunately.

I come from a country where certain sects of the population try to eliminate other sects. None of us are white.

Quite insightful of you. The reality is if it wasn't Europeans who dominated the globe and slaughtered others, it would have been the Asians, or the Africans or the Arabs. We were ignorant savages all the way around and to lay it on whites for eternity is simpleminded especially when any other group would have done the same given the opportunity.

And as for how blacks behave when you are the only white, I had that experience many times over. I have never seen a white treat a black like that. I would never defend mistreatment of a minority, but I cannot agree that minorities are free from mistreating others, whether white or otherwise. Like pp points out, just look at world history, recent or otherwise. It is people who are shits, not whites. Trash comes in all colors and no xolor is trash-frer.

The other 33% are minorities. That is diverse, but also the reason why it is one of the best schools in the cluster. It is a sad reality.

Nationally, 63.7% of the population is White, non-Hispanic. It would appear that 67% clearly fails the NATIONAL diversity test for ALL age groups--let alone for children (which has more diversity generally) or within Montgomery County.


Result: Bannockburn is NOT diverse.
