Is the Visi head coach still with Capitals or is she now with Pride? |
She runs Pride. |
She was never with Capital. |
Agree on Visi lax parents. Awful yesterday at Holy Child. |

Visi (ranked #12 Nationally) had interesting results in the Spring Fling Tournament. They beat Milton, a strong team from GA ranked #14 nationally, by a comfortable margin (17-7). But they only beat regional powerhouse Loyola Academy (IL), which has no national rank this season, 8-7. Since Visi coach doesn't pull much from bench, first stringers were probably tired from Milton game but it also reveals that Visi doesn't have much depth on the bench this year, which is unusual. Considering that lack of depth and the weak freshman class at Visi, that controversial coach better be bringing in some great players in next year's freshman class if she wants to keep winning. |
Why is she controversial? She's competitive and pumps her girls up. The players love their coach. People hate on her because she's doing well. So is the program. Leave her alone. |
I totally agree. Watching the games, it looks like few of the top teams make a lot of substitutions. BI plays the same line up, even though he's got a bench loaded with talent. Perhaps the practice of limiting subs is why we're seeing more parity across teams as strong players realize they have options. But, it doesn't have anything to do with a "controversial" coach and it's great for fans. |
Some may love her, some can't stand her. Over the past few years, my DD has played with or met many girls who left Pride red teams because of her behavior. |
Sounds like a fun way to spend high school - sitting on a bench watching other girls playing a sport & watching a screaming coach & screaming happy parents . I can’t imagine a better use of a high school students time. ![]() |
If you are one of those people who thinks everyone should get to play and its all about having fun, then you (or your kid) shouldn't be playing varsity high school sports. There is a time and a place for fun and participation but, a varsity high school sports team isn't it. |
No, I'm not one of those people who believes everyone should play. That's what rec leagues are for. I think coaches should absolutely be given the freedom to play the players they feel best work in their offensive/defensive systems and style of play. I'm just suggesting some girls may be reconsidering their opions. They can go to a traditional powerhouse, work hard and hope they get to play. They'll get excellent training, be a part of team and maybe even share in conference or state championship games. That would be great experience. But, I also think some girls may opt to play at programs that aren't in the current top rankings, with the understanding that they'll likely get more playing time. The strong academics and increased recruiting at those schools certainly is also a factor. |
Thing is, at least in the ISL AA, most of the Varsity teams have just enough strong lacrosse players (and usually also true for field hockey, soccer and basketball) to have a decent starting line up too. So even at those schools there isn't much field time for those who start on the bench. If you want a lot of playing time, and you aren't starter material at one of these schools, you either play JV or pick a school in the "A" division or a school not in the ISL at all. |
Or they might just choose not to play a sport at all. There’s no contract that says a high schooler needs to ride the bench for a sports team. |
