I think coaches should absolutely be given the freedom to play the players they feel best work in their offensive/defensive systems and style of play. I'm just suggesting some girls may be reconsidering their opions. They can go to a traditional powerhouse, work hard and hope they get to play. They'll get excellent training, be a part of team and maybe even share in conference or state championship games. That would be great experience. But, I also think some girls may opt to play at programs that aren't in the current top rankings, with the understanding that they'll likely get more playing time. The strong academics and increased recruiting at those schools certainly is also a factor.

Thing is, at least in the ISL AA, most of the Varsity teams have just enough strong lacrosse players (and usually also true for field hockey, soccer and basketball) to have a decent starting line up too. So even at those schools there isn't much field time for those who start on the bench. If you want a lot of playing time, and you aren't starter material at one of these schools, you either play JV or pick a school in the "A" division or a school not in the ISL at all.

Or they might just choose not to play a sport at all. There’s no contract that says a high schooler needs to ride the bench for a sports team.

Many of these schools require that students participate in sports or an activity at least one and sometimes more seasons per year.

Visi bests Saints by 2. No matter what you think of her personality, one cannot deny that Katie is a great coach. Visi looks fantastic.

Only second time ever Visi has beaten Saints—great win!

It will be interesting to see if the Visi parents finally shut up and are happy.

Visi coach is a nut job.

She will be out of there with in 2 years and Visi will once again be back to phase one.

Visi would be very foolish to get rid of her. She is an excellent coach and she has done more to elevate their lax program than anyone before. You may not like her personally, or think she is too loud or obnoxious, but her coaching skill is undeniable. If one is honest, she is much like many of the most successful male coaches around here with her sideline behavior. In fact, if she were a man, she would be considered normal. Its a ridiculous double standard.

You mean the type of behavior that got the GPrep coach fired despite his success? It's not the gender, it's the times - the antics aren't acceptable anymore. As for Visi - only time will tell about this coach. She will have to start coaching players she brought in next season and then deal with the lunatic Visi parents when things aren't so rosy

No, you cannot compare her to Giblin. He got into a fist fight in a bar and was extremely abusive to players. He was the extreme. She is more like the typical male coaches who no one complains about and keep their jobs season after season as long as they win (or in some cases lose).

Your comment about finally having to work with the players she has brought in is true though. Once 2019 graduates (a very strong class), the next 3 classes are slim on talent. 2020 and 2021 have some but 2022 is poor. Visi owes too many groups admission between legacies and Catholic k-8s, to allow a coach to bring in many players who wouldn't likely already go there. They have to hope there are some sophomore transfers and a strong 2023 class.

Good point. Visi talent pool very weak after this class leaves and one of its best 2020s, a D1 commit, transferred out. Plus Stone Ridge, Holton, and Holy Child have loaded up on talent for 2021-2023 classes. SSSA likely the last long term dynasty - parity has arrived

you mean HC who is 0-5 and lost to Bullis? Or SR who lost to Holton? if HC loses all their games they’ll move down a division. along with their D1 commit who you say is “the best”. you keep talking about all these amazing kids. I guess we will all just have to wait and see.

Or Holton who also lost to Bullis? Holton has no top 21s and only 1 top 2022 player. Holton will be at the bottom of the division soon enough.

Let's be clear she's more Coach Calipari than Coach K. Its all about her, her ego and and showing people she can win. That type of Coach will eventually burn out...piss off the wrong parent, player or Administrator. Visi is and always will be bigger than any Coach at some point the conflict of the money she makes from coaching outside of Visi will play a role in her demise. You can't run a High School travel team and be an unbiased Coach at a High School. Its either money or respect you can't play both sides. I believe the administration will see the conflict and take the proper action.

Uhhh hello stars/capital? KJ survived because she has been the only game in town. Not anymore. People hate on the coach because she’s new and a disruptor.
