Exactly. The water was splashed in the pool. Unfortunately sometimes when you are on a pool deck, you get a little wet. If that’s a dealbreaker I don’t think swimming is the sport for you |
Chesterbrook has lost meets in the past. And it sucks but they do not resort to making things up on an online forum and being ridiculous. Stop lying about what has happened and start focusing on the upcoming relay meets |
DR parent here, OKM! Come join us in d2 next year!!! We would LOVE the company |
Reiterating everything said about OKMs sportsman ship. They’re talking about chesterbrook as if they are saints. I saw multiple people avoid handshakes both in the pool and at the end. In addition, one of their most respected swimmers kept making eye contact with chesterbrooks youngest kids, stuck her tongue out and put up Ls. Are you 5 years old?!? [b]Accept the loss OKM. |
Well we’ll have to see if the NVSL Board thinks it’s funny. A group of parents sent a letter in this morning about exactly what happened yesterday along with video of the behavior. The NVSL is an actual organization and has a governing body to prevent nonsense like this. This isn’t a frat house where you can behave however you want to other teams and children. These are children at summer swim team. There is no place for this type of behavior. A competitive environment is fine, throwing water on opposing teams and trying to intimidate them is NOT! Chesterbrook is drunk with winning. Clearly you can’t relate |
Don’t leave us DR, we are the only two sane ones in whole lot. XXOO, Highlands |
Congrats on all the other teams on such a close and competitive race for the sportsmanship award! Unfortunately, Chesterbrook is too busy trying to win instead of making friends! |
The fact that this forum was ever created, and with this offensive name, speaks to OKM sportsmanship. Overlee and CB have been acting this way for years, and while there have definitely been times they have taken it too far, it’s mostly only ever been fun competition. As a long time parent, my kids have had FUN with CB and Overlee. They’ve never felt scared or had to cover their ears, it’s always just made them want to swim fast and cheer louder. Tuckahoe, on the other hand, has hung nooses, hung dolls, had their 13&overs yell in the other teams 12&u faces AND their own teams 12&u faces. There’s been a clear difference. D1 teams have always been the most “intense”, regarding tight competition. |
Chesterbrook is drunk with winning. Clearly you can’t relate You can win with grace, that is an actual thing that can happen. The CB behavior is a cultural problem at their club. It’s disappointing to continue to see this after the NVSL has previously been involved for their inappropriate antics. |
You can win with grace, that is an actual thing that can happen. The CB behavior is a cultural problem at their club. It’s disappointing to continue to see this after the NVSL has previously been involved for their inappropriate antics. It’s disappointing (and telling) that people are willing to forgive this behavior. Here’s the irony: CB parents tried to spin OKM’s Ospreys shirt as being an American Eagle, and concluded that OKM is MAGA. How funny that the political group CB used as an insult is EXACTLY how they act…to children. 🎤 |
Calling Chesterbrook “mean and unsportsmanlike” isn’t just inaccurate — it’s a lazy generalization that ignores the integrity and dedication behind the team’s success. Competitive? Absolutely. Intense? No question. But confusing intensity with poor sportsmanship shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes a team great.
Chesterbrook swimmers are taught to race hard, cheer harder, and respect every competitor in and out of the pool. Coaches emphasize character, parents set the tone, and swimmers consistently demonstrate the kind of discipline and sportsmanship that any team would be proud of. Anyone who’s actually spent time at Chesterbrook meets knows that. It’s easy to throw around harsh labels, especially after a tough loss or a tense moment, but that doesn’t make them true. No single anecdote — and certainly no rumor mill — justifies branding an entire team with that kind of negativity. Chesterbrook doesn’t owe an apology for having a high standard. That’s not bad behavior |
We’re a Tuckahoe family and I have not seen any of this described behavior. I think this forum is now overrun with CB folks trying to start rumors and take the stink off of them. When OKM came to our pool two weeks ago they were great. No bad sportsmanship, shook hands, and were very gracious. They lost but swam awesome. There was absolutely no bad sportsmanship whatsoever. Overlee was also great yesterday. They did cheers ran in with a very kid appropriate skit and had a good time. We cheered back and forth with each other, had great competition, and shook hands afterward and were friendly. The stuff I’m reading about on here makes me cringe if this is how OKM was treated at the CB meet. And as far as the nooses and dolls, that was years ago during a “Halloween” theme. After we received feedback that it could be scary and upsetting we stopped it. That was never our intention, it was like any other theme. Some people took it a bit far with horror movies. We’ve now tried to make them more lighthearted so it’s appropriate for everyone and the teens/coaches alike are trying to do that. I think the parents should be leaders and do better. If you see bad behavior step in and do something rather than complaining on an anonymous forum. I also think the NVSL should probably send reps to the rest of the meets in D1 this year to help police CB. |
Everyone — most of the inflammatory posts in pages 12-13 are clearly by the same poster over and over trying to suggest the OP was OKM (which clearly is not true). At this point, OKM folks should get their popcorn and stay out of it, and Overlee/Tuckahoe/etc — just know that the troll who maybe even started this whole thread is feeding himself by accusing other teams of making statements. Finally, it’s not necessary for anyone to post anything about yesterday’s meet. Those who were there saw it, and NVSL officials will either choose to act or not. All the rest is noise, and likely designed to make relay carnival unpleasant. If any team’s shite gets ruined by a$$hole boys, well, just remember that intentional destruction of property of $1000 or over is a felony in Virginia. |
The fact that everyone is surprised with the lack of NVSL involvement is naïve. Here’s what happens. People complain, maybe valid complaints sometimes. These complaints are fueled by emotion, and then spread like fire on pages like this. They grow wildly from the truth, and egregious rumors start to become “truth” for many people. Then, when people are up in arms because of the rumors that they’ve heard, they’re shocked that the NVSL is not involved. Here’s the shocker people: the NVSL isn’t involved because it is never as bad as people make it out to be. And in this particular instance, this was not as bad as people are assuming either. I’ve seen multiple angles of the video, CB swimmers and coaches are cheering and yelling at each other. They’re splashing water upwards in the air, just facing the pool deck where the coaches are and where OKM happens to be walking in. Sure, no doubt it was an intimidation “rah rah we cheer loud”, but throwing water on the other team purposefully and being malicious? No. Come on people. |
Not true. |
