Overlee Crash & Burn

Tuckahoe, Overlee, Donaldson Run and Highlands have all been great. So far as I can tell, most of the bad rep for Division 1 comes from Chesterbrook. They act like total dbags.

Coach told our younger swimmers to cover their ears and look away when they walked in. Think about that for minute.

The skits are that bad?!

This is absolutely appalling. If this is how Chesterbrook acts why are they allowed to host Divisionals?

Maybe their privileges should start being revoked by NVSL. There are behavior guidelines for teams and it sounds like there are a lot of violations here. If they are penalized maybe they will start to learn a lesson.

New OKM parent in this chat: I noticed when the kids walked in, all the 10Us were looking down, my own little one included. I had no idea that the coaches had told them to look down and drown out the noise or cover their ears. My child just confirmed that she/he/they got very scared walking in and with the creepy death symbols everywhere. The skit, well, WTH was that?!! And why were the CB male swimmers throwing water (like cupping it in their hands and splashing it high and hard ONTO us)?! And what was the haka-type thing the kid did after the swimmers were told to stop? The whole thing was ewwww.

+1 no sane person actually thinks this! Death symbols are okay? Intimidation of other teams? These are little children…

Only someone from Chesterbrook would post a ridiculous response like this to justify horrible behavior.

Everyone saying CB is the only bad team and acting like Tuckahoe is the nice guy??? Last year a Tuckahoe swimmer literally spat on my child (an 8u swimmer) and proceeded to make pig snorting noises at her, insinuating that this poor young child was overweight. Only ever had positive experiences at CB. Unbelievable

The skit was a slot machine, and when it landed on 3 tigersharks, Chesterbrook started cheering. So yes, it was horrifying.

A slot machine!!! No way!! I’ll be having nightmares for a week!

My kids are in a different division, but with regard to context would the skit have been perceived as bad if no 10U were present? It’s the older teens who set the tone for skits and themes. I think sometimes they just lose sight of the fact that there are small ones. In the past teens on our summer team would tie a noose on there other teams mascot and hang it off the diving board? Too tame and people complain. Too mean and people complain.

Dead giveaway was the disrespectful comment about nonbinary youth, when Overlee is very welcoming to nonbinary youth. Nice try, CB.

Did you tell your coach or the rep? Kids act like kids sometimes but the adults in the room are there to help correct this behavior.

If the Tuckahoe coaches knew about this I’m sure they would have reprimanded the swimmer and talked to the parents.

That’s the difference between Tuckahoe and Chesterbrook. Tuckahoe doesn’t condone bad behavior!

What [all the expletives]! It took their team rep yelling at their coaches to stop the behavior. How embarrassing that these adults and kids acted that way. This is why the rest of us in D1 want them exiled. The coaches and the kids were doing it. I’ve seen multiple videos. This is the consistent Chesterbrook behavior that has to stop. The league needs to get involved.

That’s terrible! It should be reported to the NVSL and they should be penalized. That’s completely unsportsmanlike behavior.

Nah it was pretty funny. You weren’t there.

Well we’ll have to see if the NVSL Board thinks it’s funny. A group of parents sent a letter in this morning about exactly what happened yesterday along with video of the behavior. The NVSL is an actual organization and has a governing body to prevent nonsense like this.

This isn’t a frat house where you can behave however you want to other teams and children. These are children at summer swim team. There is no place for this type of behavior.

A competitive environment is fine, throwing water on opposing teams and trying to intimidate them is NOT!

Last year Chesterbrook brought a chicken to the meet and started terrorizing it in front of my 6 year old! The chicken was laying eggs and all hell broke loose.
