What was going on with the parents? |
And for filming races from behind the starts. Then they crowded around the data table trying to check scores. There were no words for the ridiculousness. I’m glad the Div Coordinator was there. He was able to witness the good and bad behavior first hand. |
Chatter at our meet was something about parents behind the starting blocks and timer tent with cameras. But knowing how tuckahoe is set up that seems somewhat unbelievable. We heard something about filming but I never got the details. Waiting to hear from someone who was there. |
They were standing on deck between the clerk of course and the swimmers (directly behind 8&us). They were asked to move. Then the ref had to ask them to move again. |
There were people filming the race behind the start side of the pool. There were also other Chesterbrook parents standing on the deck on the opposite side. |
NVSL division coordinators almost all try to attend two meets every weekend, usually driving between them after backstroke. So 4 out of the 6 teams in every division are observed by the division coordinator each week. So I would read into anything the presence of a division coordinator at a CB or T meet in any given week. |
Division 1 coordinator visits all three meets every Saturday, even since OKM joined. Distances are not that far. Non-story. |
I was at the T/CB meet! Truly a close, exciting meet. No drama and little BS besides the classics from both teams. Everyone seemed to have a good time! Congrats to T for the win. And to the posters here commenting that there was extraneous drama, get a life!!! The kids had fun, and frankly so did the parents. ![]() |
It was a great competitive meet! Awesome swims on both sides. |
These people commenting are clearly not on either team! If they were, they would have no beef to write about because there wasn’t any! The DQ delayed the meet for the normal time one does, but was discussed primarily after the meet. There was no delay due to behavior, it was a very civil meet and congrats to T for their win! |
OKM parent here. A few of the other D1 team parents legit asked us where Burke was and how long it took to get to McLean. 😂 Uh, 20 minutes without traffic. (They weren’t being nasty, they honestly did not know since we are outside the beltway.) |
I’m confused as to why OKM ends up ranked ahead of Highlands in the standings when they finished with the same overall record and Highland beat them head to head. It doesn’t really matter. It just seems weird. |
They didn't, they're tired for third. They're listed that way because of having more total points, but points don't count for actual standings. |
This is not accurate, there were delays for behavior. Not an hours worth but plenty of extra time kids had to stand at the start in the sun for longer than they should have because of behavior. Let’s not rewrite history here. |
But it was kids from both teams standing in the sun. There was no advantage given to either squad with the minor delays. As a side note, the officiating staff did an amazing job throughout the meet. They were on top of it, looked like they were regularly talking to the reps, and seemed to have things under control. Was it a competitive match? Yes, absolutely. And at the highest levels of competition, in any sport, comes some extra drama sometimes. The meet was run very well and the times were incredible. Just look up the results and see how close some of the races were! It could have gone either way in some of the events. |
