Once you pay for your own school and phone then your rules. Seems like a small price to pay for the next 1.5 years of phone and tuition.

Our college kids also have Life 360. We rarely "track them" except when they are driving home (5 and 8 hours respectively) so we can see when they'll be home. Although every once in a while, when we are missing them, we look to see where they are (usually in class or in their dorm or in another part of each of their respective locations).

We always made the kids have it, and have it turned on, due to the Whitman HS student who passed away a few years back who no one could find (apparently left a party, cut through the woods and passed out and died). No one could find him and the parents were frantic. That is why we require it.

And, agree with the above. If you don't ever want them to track you, pay for your own phone.

“We” track them, or just you?

We. DH uses it more than Indo - he gets curious and will frequently "take a look." I don't do this - I look for when they will be home.

BS. Your kid could provide an ETA and update when he or she stops for gas. A call or a text if stuck in heavy traffic. Total BS and you know it.

+1 This is bull.

Your kids could share their location during their drive.

Your DH doesn't need to check that they're in class. That's nuts.

Parents have to choose: safety or discipline.

If you want to track your child for safety, you have to forfeit all discipline related to the information the tracker provides.

What's more important? Helping your kid be safe, or controlling their behavior?

You tell your parents that they can track you on 365. What they cannot do is make any comments. If that happens, tell them you will turn it off.

This thread is three months old, so hopefully OP’s dealt with this by now

I am 47 for reference. Just get another phone they don’t know about and leave yours at home, problem solved

You can download maps offline for use with a burner phone. That's how I navigate in foreign countries where I don't have cell service.

I'm not familiar with Life350. If you turn off cellular, can it still track you?

I really think this app should be illegal for use on adult phones. I get it for children.

Same here- the app is on for all of us but we hardly only look, only when they are traveling or something. My kids have no issue with this, especially my DD who goes travels regularly and it comforts her to know we can see where she is. It's also enabled us to tell them where their phone is when they leave them in Ubers or lose somewhere.

Growing up my parents never went anywhere. We never went on trips or vacations except driving 2 hours to the beach for a few days once every couple years. Then they had the gall to tell me not to travel alone. If I didn’t ignore them, I wouldn’t have seen anything there is to see!
