Many intersections are marked for the left turn lane to turn left only and the left lane has straight and left arrows meaning, you can also turn left from that lane which makes perfect sense. If you are turning left onto another two lane road, why not let both lanes turn left? It's a Maryland thing and it's brilliant! But, we know how to drive. And yes, we will likely turn left from any lane no matter how it's marked. Stay alert. |
Nope, you can still get pulled over for speeding in the left lane so I’ll keep driving the speed limit there, junior |
| Terrible drivers. They should all stay in MD. |
As a Big Ten supporter I am annoyed that Maryland has joined too. MD sports are a joke. |
| Great thread ... as a (Maryland) man of the people, I like to hear what our poor, slow-driving cousins to the south are thinking. Is there a charity I can support to help these poor souls? |
Great question Md Man of the People. Moms against Drunk Driving would be a good place to start. At Mothers Against Drunk Driving, we're focused on one goal: ending impaired driving for good. Since our founding, we've served as a lifeline for thousands of victims and survivors, and drunk driving fatalities have been cut in half — but we refuse to stop there. Together, we can end this 100% preventable crime. https://madd.org MADD: Home |
And you are the person who complains about all the bad drivers who tailgate you and flash their lights. The left lane is for passing only and that's the law. If you sit in the left lane doing the speed limit, you are not a safe driver, you are a menace and you are breaking the law. |
So Great Falls Virginia is named after an natural attraction located in Maryland? Now that’s humiliating !! |
You can’t get pulled over for speeding in the left lane? Yes, you can which means you’re breaking the law. I love getting tailgating actually because the tailgaters are the ones that don’t care about the actual law, and I love seeing them get furious as their tailgating doesn’t intimidate me and they just don’t get to their destination 5 seconds sooner. I never move for them. |
|
LOL at you VA people.
I get annoyed with MD drivers because I live in MD. If I lived in VA I'd probably be annoyed with VA drivers. Why? Because there are bad drivers everywhere. And I'm not originally from the DC area. And yea, where I'm originally from, there are bad drivers there, too. |
You are a terrible driver who is impeding traffic. Your choice to sit in a passing lane, don’t complain about other drivers. You’re just as terrible a driver as those you complain about. |
Im not complaining at all, as they can tailgate all the time and the risk is on them. I’m completely happy going the speed limit and it’s a myth that you can just fly on the left lane. Cops will pull you over, not me. You’re the angry driver, not me. |
NP here: No, you are the douche who is holding up a line of cars behind you. You can drive in the left lane, but you should move over anytime a faster moving car comes up from behind you. It’s basic common sense and drivers courtesy. You are literally the cause of traffic. The number of times I’ve been on the B-W Parkway and some slow moving idiot in the left lane holds up 30+ cars is ridiculous. Move the f#ck over and mind your own business. |
Yes. Close-in to DC on either side is identical. |
+1 Driving while not passing in the left lane is considered aggressive driving in most states, and you will get fined. Both MD and VA have the worst drivers, for the record. |
