Pp was probably referring to the images of a person performing a blow job in Gender Queer.

I'm not PP but there is no universe in which something like that is appropriate for school.

No universe? Is there no other book that talks about oral sex in any context in the library? How about extreme violence? Funny how we privilege books like the Bible, which is filled to the brim with gore and violence, rape and murder, and yet a blow job in a gender queer book gets parents panties in a bunch.

I for one would like to see what other artistic merits the book provides or it is exclusively prurient in nature. Because that is the standard for obscenity, not whether it makes me “feel” uncomfortable due to my religious beliefs.

And it wasn't even a "real" blow job. No actual genitals involved.

Vote out all the idiots at the fcps.

Sorry, Tiger moms, FCPS will find a different way to level the playing field, assuming the decision isn’t overturned on appeal. Consider taking that money you’re spending on test prep and private tutors and move to a less affluent pyramid.

The one learning for you should be that you stop using terms like “leveling the playing field” as euphemisms for “racial balancing”. The judge basically said exactly that. All the anti-Asian policies in the guise of social justice is getting called out in the Courts. The Harvard case in the Supreme Court will be a further test.

And it is best to avoid racial tropes like “spending on test-prep”. Those kind of stereotypes are about as offensive as stereotypes of “Uncle Tom” or of Italian mafiosi

Not a chance. The overenthusiastic left wing, progressive nut jobs are running education in this country. It’s impossible to fight them, unfortunately.

Don’t waste your breath. Anti-Asian sentiments and racist stereotypes are welcomed and encouraged on this board and elsewhere in society as a while. A racist comment like that PP against AA parents or Latinx parents would be deleted immediately.

I agree. Simulated oral sex that doesn’t show genitalia is appropriate material for Kindergarten.

It’s not a stereotype if it’s true. Please, show me all the examples of inherent Asian superiority, students excelling at these tests with absolutely no private outside investment whatsoever. Listen, it stinks when you think you’ve figured out a hack and have spent a lot of money on it just to find the game has shifted under your feet. I get it. But this is a public school, not a private school, and if the system looks rigged against entire swaths of your population you can bet it is going to change. Use the money and move, because the future is geographic lotteries.

Sorry - it's not in any elementary school library. Guess you'll have to look for it elsewhere for your kid.

Since simulated BJs are a big no-no I guess this gesture is now BANNED in all MSs/HSs.

Just cut it out. Nobody is claiming racial superiority of inferiority. We are talking about stereotypes where individual identity is subsumed by a caricature of the individual’s race - the kind you are spouting.

For every Asian who preps there are a 100 who don’t. Racism is about stereotypes (and ironically CRT is also about combating stereotypes). I got nothing to do with you and your ilk. And I am not moving either. You’d better learn to get your lazy butt off the ground because the days of handouts are over. Compete - because if you don’t you will just get left behind. Just because a system does not give you the outcome you want does bog mean it is rigged.

Take cultural sensitivity/unconscious bias training at work and mull over your own prejudice. Hopefully you will emerge s better person.

Ok. I m Asian American and my kid graduated from TJ several years ago.

You know what he did to prepare for the TJ exam? I bought him SAT practice book that was about $20.00. He studied and practiced that for about 6 months before taking the test. He also practiced writing essays at home. Not all Asian students cheat, over prep etc. etc. Stop with the offensive tropes.

You just have to study harder and put in the necessary time and effort - like anything in this life. When did a hard work become a sin in this country?

In addition, Asians did not claim any innate superior intelligence. What Asians want is to study hard, work hard and try to become a productive member of the society despite being the only minority group to be an "unprotected group" and despite being the smalless t group which should warrant equal or even more protection as the most vulnerable group of the 3 minority groups. It is possible that some do over prepare but that is totally up to them as long as there is no cheating.

Look at the College Admissions scandal that resulted in 60-70 parents being criminally charged and convicted - criticize that before you generalize about a minority group. I guess you only promote these tropes against Asians and Not AA or Hispanics.

Oh, that’s awesome. Is that the litmus test for racist comments. If the person who says them thinks it’s ‘true’ then it’s not racist? Good to know.

Don’t worry. You can push your racist notions all you want but you can’t keep our Asian kids down. I promise you that.

Yes, and it isn't just a person, it is a very young person.

Then it isn't the picture that I saw

I really think that TJ should look at other factors instead of using the test as the main admission criteria. The truth is that there are many intelligent kids who don't test as well. It's just a fact. My opinion is not based on trying to decrease the number of Asian students. It's interesting b/c I have many Asian friends who talk about how the Asian "model minority" belief hurts so many Asian students.
