Wake up local Boards of Education

It's just a fact. My opinion is not based on trying to decrease the number of Asian students. It's interesting b/c I have many Asian friends who talk about how the Asian "model minority" belief hurts so many Asian students.

The test was not the main component of the admissions process. It was one of many- test, gpa, essays, teacher recommendations etc. Let’s get a way from they only used the test or the test was the main criterion etc. Enough of showing your ignorance.

And your “oh I have Asian friends so I can disparage them doesn’t go over well just like it would not for “I have blac friends so I can disparage them” comments.

Defending?

Just pointing that PPs are misrepresenting what is in the book. Probably because they are anti-LGBTQ+.

So…

Pp was probably referring to the images of a person performing a blow job in Gender Queer.

Yes, and it isn't just a person, it is a very young person.

You are clueless.

Vote out all the idiots at the fcps.

Sorry, Tiger moms, FCPS will find a different way to level the playing field, assuming the decision isn’t overturned on appeal. Consider taking that money you’re spending on test prep and private tutors and move to a less affluent pyramid.

The one learning for you should be that you stop using terms like “leveling the playing field” as euphemisms for “racial balancing”. The judge basically said exactly that. All the anti-Asian policies in the guise of social justice is getting called out in the Courts. The Harvard case in the Supreme Court will be a further test.

And it is best to avoid racial tropes like “spending on test-prep”. Those kind of stereotypes are about as offensive as stereotypes of “Uncle Tom” or of Italian mafiosi

Don’t waste your breath. Anti-Asian sentiments and racist stereotypes are welcomed and encouraged on this board and elsewhere in society as a while. A racist comment like that PP against AA parents or Latinx parents would be deleted immediately.

It’s not a stereotype if it’s true. Please, show me all the examples of inherent Asian superiority, students excelling at these tests with absolutely no private outside investment whatsoever. Listen, it stinks when you think you’ve figured out a hack and have spent a lot of money on it just to find the game has shifted under your feet. I get it. But this is a public school, not a private school, and if the system looks rigged against entire swaths of your population you can bet it is going to change. Use the money and move, because the future is geographic lotteries.

Ok. I m Asian American and my kid graduated from TJ several years ago.

You know what he did to prepare for the TJ exam? I bought him SAT practice book that was about $20.00. He studied and practiced that for about 6 months before taking the test. He also practiced writing essays at home. Not all Asian students cheat, over prep etc. etc. Stop with the offensive tropes.

You just have to study harder and put in the necessary time and effort - like anything in this life. When did a hard work become a sin in this country?

In addition, Asians did not claim any innate superior intelligence. What Asians want is to study hard, work hard and try to become a productive member of the society despite being the only minority group to be an "unprotected group" and despite being the smalless t group which should warrant equal or even more protection as the most vulnerable group of the 3 minority groups. It is possible that some do over prepare but that is totally up to them as long as there is no cheating.

Look at the College Admissions scandal that resulted in 60-70 parents being criminally charged and convicted - criticize that before you generalize about a minority group. I guess you only promote these tropes against Asians and Not AA or Hispanics.

People on here are sounding unhinged, no wonder the teachers were commenting on how toxic the school has gotten. Listen, you can work hard all day long. It’s not a sin, in fact it is necessary for success. The bare minimum. TJ was not intended to be a prize for working hard, to open the doors to the Ivies where you could get a Wall St job and make gobs of money. It was intended to educate the best and brightest and put them on a path to exceed in STEM so they can advance the world for the better. Otherwise why the hell are taxpayers paying for it?

If you need to drill for months just to get into the door, how well poised are you to excel? What do you do when your hard work isn’t enough to exceed the limits of your ability?

I’m not saying Asian kids aren’t smart or don’t possess those other factors, but it does look fishy to have a school that almost entirely excludes other populations. Maybe your assessment that seems so fair on paper really isn’t fair after all. Unless or course you want to argue inherent superiority, which is pretty damn racist.

I set a high bar to this but you are a textbook definition of what a racist is. You think it is “fishy” that there are so many Asians and you jump to the conclusion that all Asians cheat. The Asians success escapes your comprehension - the only way you rationalize it is by assuming cheating. Go away. And get some sensitivity training - your parenting is likely letting loose some of your mini-mes in this world. You can still do good by your kids by understanding your own biases.

I’ll just add- I don’t see the point in spending resources like this to produce more grinders. I want the best and brightest, and I think that comes from all races and income levels. But I get you’re sensitive here- you think you figured out the game and got your kids taxpayer funded advantages, and that’s not true anymore. Easy to see why you’d suddenly start screaming racism. You can’t contemplate a world where there might be a fairer way to divide the spoils.

I’d think it was fishy if it was 70% white, but again, keep clinging to your own notions of working hard and Asian inherent superiority. Toxic toxic toxic. You’re raising your kids to be grinders and are proud of it. Grinders work the labs, they don’t cure cancer.

TJ is number one, TJ is number one!😜

Go away. Hate to break it to you but the US District Court ruled yesterday that the new admissions process to be unconstitutional and it discriminates against Asians and enjoined the fcps from using the new admissions system. Sucks to be you.

There is a lot of coaching and drill-and-kill prep to game the test out there.

You can lash out to your hearts content, you racist PoS. The notion of inherent racial superiority is terrible and I have subscribed to it. You can project that on me to rationalize your racist rants. Unless we have vouchers - I am not gaming the system and driving any taxpayer funded advantages. There is always a better way to increase diversity including TJ. But with racists like you it will never be fair. Us some advice in parting - work hard to earn your privilege. Envying those that are successful and begrudging their achievements is a recipe for disaster. Now go away and rant against your neighbor - his grass is greener because he is stealing your groundwater and not because you have worked your yard - ever.
