Not so simple when the GOP surgically targets DMVs and polling places to close in majority minority neighborhoods specifically to make it harder for minorities to get ID and vote. https://www.aclu.org/blog/voting-rights/voting-rights-act/alabamas-dmv-shutdown-has-everything-do-race https://www.texastribune.org/2021/05/23/texas-voting-polling-restrictions/ Not so simple when the GOP reduces hours at the remaining DMVs so that working class people in majority minority neighborhoods who have to travel long distances to get their ID must take off time from work to do so, then blocks laws to require employers to provide paid leave so that minorities have to choose between being able to vote or putting food on the table. https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/challenge-obtaining-voter-identification Not so simple when the GOP raises the fees for obtaining a driver's license, making it harder to obtain for low-income workers who skew disproportionately black and hispanic. https://kutv.com/news/local/proposed-bill-would-make-renewing-drivers-licenses-more-expensive Not so simple when the GOP underfunds public transport, making it take even longer and more expensive for people without a driver's license to get to the now-further-away DMVs with now-reduced hours and now-more-expensive ID fees. The ridiculous Tucker Carlson talking point you spout that "POC 'can't handle' getting a driver's license" is insane and completely disingenuous. It is objectively harder for a low income person in a majority minority neighborhood to obtain a legitimate voter ID than it is for a higher income white person, and the GOP deliberately makes it that way specifically to prevent POC from voting. |
Because it makes it easier for people with limited transportation, or people with inflexible jobs (more that one gig), kids to vote. If you make it harder for people to vote you will have less Democrats casting votes. Get the plan? |
Virginia doesn't require a REAL ID to vote. Just a driver's license. You can renew your driver's license and not get a REAL ID. You only need REAL ID for flying and some federal things. |
I just want to hear a republican actually defend it. They seem to want to deflect to ID rather than early voting. Still have seen a defense in this thread. |
All my identifying documents have expired. Why won't you just take my word? /s |
I have no reason to lie. They weren’t expired when I set out on my journey to get a new license in 2020. |
Ok, for starters, I'm a gun owner. I'm not a member of any of those radical neo-fascist organizations you seem proud of. I'm also secure enough as a man and a gun owner that I don't need a "gun culture" to celebrate. I'm also a better American than you. The bit about my "tiny racist mind" is amusing, though. Let's review: The cosplay clowns who walk around with their guns and are legends in their own mind are by and large rejects of the military or could never be employed by law enforcement. So, they like to go play at "militias." They are inherently tied to white supremacy groups. And, in my experience, those who say loudest "I'm not racist because some of my friends, er fellow gun owners, are black" are inherently racist because they lack any understanding of their white privilege and in fact actively resist recommendations that they examine it. I'm sure you think you're a good person. But you're not. Anyone who would normalize open carrying of weapons in a peaceful society is garbage. Sounds like Virginia really isn't for you. Maybe you should move to Mogadishu? I'm told beachfront property is cheap there. |
LOL. Dude essentially said some of his friends are black therefore he's not racist. LOL. Sit down. |
Different poster, but you really do live in a fantasy of your own making, don't you? Other people fit so nicely into your judgmental, bigoted views. |
Comprehension problems from your public school education? PP never called them friends. He noted a diverse crowd, not your good old white boy fantasy. |
The fact that you think Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership (JPFO) is “a radical neofascist organization” is proof of your clownshoe credentials. I think you’re done here. |
Not even back in ~2016 when they re-examined their stance on fighting against gun bans? |
|
You keep using that word. Don't make me go all Inigo Montoya on you. Not wanting to live in a community where people openly display weapons as part of day-to-day life is not "bigoted." As for judgmental? Oh, yes, I completely judge chickenshits who have to strap on an AR-15 to walk through the grocery store or go to Starbucks. I mean, I also have openly mocked them to their face, too, so it's not like I snicker at them. The irony is palpable -- we all agree mentally ill people shouldn't have guns. But anyone who would do this has more than a few screws loose. Someone should absolutely come and confiscate their guns. Mind you, I've no problem with seeing people walking around with rifles when I hunt. Because that's an appropriate time and place. But the person who's trying to provoke a reaction by prattle on about non-existent threats to 2A rights while standing around equipped for war in Old Town at the Farmer's Market? Yeah, I'm going to (and have) mocked that, harassed that and will judge that. |
Yes, I thing that Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership is a radical neofascist organization. I'm sorry, was I supposed to think otherwise because the word Jews is in the title? What, did you think using the word Jews would somehow inoculate a group that believes gun control is always totalitarianism and genocide? That ties gun laws to Nazism? Or that says the Gun Control Act of 1968 as lifted "almost in its entirety from Nazi legislation?' Yes, that's crazy radical. Who cares that it's Jews that think this. What a crazy idea that jews couldn't possibly have insane ideas. Wow. |
