Most people have already had it, but thanks for your concern! |
Well in DC proof of ID and vaccine card are required. Same with NYC. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/washington-dc-proof-of-vaccination-entry-requirement-covid/2936855/ “A valid photo ID and proof of vaccination will be needed to enter many indoor gathering places. A mask mandate is also in effect.” |
+1 Exactly. And I had to laugh at the PP who said signatures on ballots (never had to sign one, but ok) were meticulously compared to signatures on IDs, to "prevent fraud." So the assumption is that everyone would have an ID with their signature on it! D'oh!

No, you're just posting about how traumatized you are by the idea of a Republican governor. So scary!! |
DP. Interesting. I wonder how the PP will weasel her way out of that one. |
I don’t know any 2A “activists,” but all the gun owners I know support universal background checks. |
It looks like tweet is showing the actual proposal for legislation (which should have been linked). If it’s true, it’s horrible and embarrassing. |
They will, but they will go to the grocery store anyway. |
+1 Absolutely. |
Except that the mistake was on the part of the agency tasked with drafting the legislation - which they freely admitted.
On Friday, Addison Merryman, a spokesman for Mr. Williams, released a statement from the state’s Division of Legislative Services, which took the blame for the error. The mistake was inserted at the “drafting level following receipt of a historically accurate request from the office of Delegate Wren Williams,” according to the division, which described itself as a nonpartisan state agency that drafts, edits and releases “thousands of legislative drafts” for the General Assembly each session. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/14/us/virginia-lincoln-douglas-debates-bill.html |
Pollworker here. In the west coast state where I now live and work elections, we sign the voter roll when we check in at the poll or we sign the back of the envelope that we mail if the ballot is mail-in. Those signatures are checked against the signatures on file (collected during registration). The voter rolls and absentee ballot envelopes - which is where signatures are collected - are checked at the county elections office. Party observers (R&D and I think others that have qualified) monitor the signature checks and if the election official has any concern about a lack of match between the signature on file and the signature collected that election, they can discuss it with the observers who can argue for or against the signature. The election official then makes the call. (I believe they are also able to contact voters in follow-up but not super sure how that part happens.) After the polls close, staff at each poll must tally and trace each and every election material collected. The number of votes cast in person - the actual paper cards that the machine tallies - must match the number of signatures in the roll. Also - every hour the polls are open we mark the names of the voters who have come to the polls on a list that is then posted outside the polls for the public to see. At the end of the night, we post the completed list as well as a tally of all votes cast at that poll that day. Voters get a receipt/identification number that goes with their actual ballot. They can check online to see the status of their ballot. There are other protections in place too but I'm describing what's public information. And that is this: who you vote for is your business. That you voted is public information. Election officials work tirelessly to track every single vote and we know every voter. I'm not going to say there's never been a vote cast that shouldn't have been, but this notion that you can just dump thousands of anonymous ballots or fake someone's ballot - enough to actually turn an election - is ludicrous. If you genuinely believe it's possible to fake a bunch of votes where you live, please explain to me first exactly how votes in your county are collected and tallied. Don't just tell me how you think it "could happen," but demonstrate that you actually know with at least some degree of precision how your system works. |

Amerikans use period instead of comma for number, komrade. |
Are you claiming the delegate or his staff didn’t read his own bill or that they did and also thought Douglass was Frederick Douglass? |
