Much much better.

1-year extension on Child Tax Credit
4-week Paid Leave
No Community college
Medicare expansion included
ACA expansion included
Universal pre-K included
No mention of subsidized childcare

Falls short but at least moves in the right direction.

This is COMPROMISE. Continuing to oppose it is pure bad faith.

Progressives here. I can live with this but Biden better cancel student debt if he wants the young activists to work their butts off in 2022. He should at least cancel 10k

Biden only cancelled debt related to borrow defense: Under federal law, if your college or university misled you or engaged in other misconduct, you may be eligible for borrower defense to student loan repayment. Additional cancellation was for borrowers who experienced permanent and total disability since student loans are dischargeable in bankruptcy.

Yes, and that adds up to $1.5 billion in canceled student debt, which is what I posted.

Oh but wait, actually it’s $9.5 billion.

Right because daycares wont accept infants until at least 6 weeks. This is why I am having such a problem with our legislators right now. 6 week minimum is the only realistic minimum due to REGULATION ALREADY IN PLACE. In MD its illegal.

Also Ive heard rumblings that there will be a 100k total household limit for any paid leave which is BS. Manchin and Sinema are literally playing hardball to whittle these benefits down when the irony is that all of his constituents will get these benefits in full.
Democrats negotiate to get red states and LCOL areas more benefits compared to the voting block that actually votes for them and Democrat voters have no choice but to continue to vote D bc there is no way I am voting for more pro-business, pro-coal, anti-regulation Republicans. It is just show-boating because at the end of the day Sinema and Manchin look like these great harbingers of fiscal conservatism and yet their constituents by and large are always under the income limits.

Not sure what point you are making. The government should go after these a$$hat institutions but unfortunately Rs are too business friendly. Its all on the consumer right? Do you think its morally wrong to cancel debt from students who were misled? Really? Thats the hard line you are taking?

Sinema just blew up the revenue side of the bills, asking basically for no changes to the tax code.

Manchin and his fossil fule money have blown up the climate change components and Sinema and her Pharma money have blown up the healthcare components.

Its almost like the Koch funded politicians are ruling the roost at the expense of the American people.

No, I think what he’s done so far is great. But there isn’t a lot of appetite for more.

Keep complaining and you'll get nothing.

I heard Biden tried to take out the SALT deductions and the New York Democrats HIT. THE. ROOF.

Its almost like the Koch funded politicians are ruling the roost at the expense of the American people.

They’re both gutter trash. What they and the whole GOP are doing is absolutely repellent. They want America, born in 1776, to die so that they can make a Frankenstein’s monster of its part that they think will be more to their liking. They’re stopping all progress, the Republican governors have done all they could to make sure that covid has killed as many as possible, and we’re going to live in a warmer world because of this.

I want to know why it is that Republicans get their way every time they’re in power, but Democrats, having won the WH and both houses of Congress, have to piece meal it and nary a Republican can be found who cares enough about the earth or America and the people who live here to play ball. Absolutely dumb, disgusting wastes of taxpayer money.

If you want to make claims to 1776 then you need to understand that the Senate is not, and was never, meant to be reflective of population numbers (that's the house). It was to balance the states and prevent a numerical majority from always triumphing over the minority. The FF were very concerned about the tyranny of the majority (as well as the minority). So far it's done the job quite well.

Yeah. The Midwest has always had two dustbunnies and a horse to rub together. The Founders knew that and they saw the dichotomy up close when comparing population rates in territories like Kentucky versus Massachusetts.
