Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
THIS. |
Ideally we would prevent rape from happening to ALL girls. And all non-girls, too. Regardless of the identity of the rapists. Immigration enforcement will not achieve that goal. Better security measures in school might. It's despicable the way people are using the rape victim -- without her consent -- as a poster person to push their pet ideas about immigration enforcement. |
God only knows how many other screaming girls this rapists have tortured and beaten. |
You don't have to be an American citizen to fly between American airports! Presumably he had a Guatemalan passport. |

Regardless of what political side you take on this, we can all agree this is gross.

No, we can't all agree on who does and does not deserve a lawyer. Defendants get representation in this country, even if what they are accused of doing is awful. |
Maybe citizens should get a public dependent. Not this asshole. |
I believe he flew to meet his father. The no-ID reuquirement for under 18 only applies if the minor is _accompanied_ by a companion: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification "TSA does not require children under 18 to provide identification when traveling with a companion within the United States. | Please stop whipping up the crazies. NBC Washington is reporting the school has been receiving bomb threats and someone claimed they were coming with a gun to "shoot all the illegals." Please everyone calm down before this brings on wackos with guns. |
If MCPS acted responsibly, the crazies wouldn't appear. Even if MCPS admitted a mistake was made, things wouldn't be so heated but they keep saying things like "bad things happen" and "how is this our fault" and...well...that makes people angry. |

I'm sure this has been said somewhere but I haven't been able to keep up with 88 pages...
But - I cannot believe that school superintendent Smith never seems to say anything about the girl victim. The primary thing that should be coming out of his mouth should be things like 'I'm outraged that this happened', 'I'm so sorry this happened to her' 'I hope that she recovers and feels better soon I and the school system will do whatever we can to help her recover from this trauma- now and over the long term as she will need support for a long time'. Instead I see him whining and fussing at the parents and people who are outraged and scared. I see him focusing on some anti immigration comments and getting defensive and mad. I see him whining that there was some kind of bomb threat today so there are police in the parking lot. I hear vague promises to 'shore up security soon' . Really? How about now? There was some dumb thing about teachers now keeping track of students and 'how long they've been in the bathroom'. What the hell is that going to do? Point to another perpetrator of a crime after the fact? God knows what typically goes on during the school day - I'm sure a LOT OF BAD STUFF. He ( and the police)should personally be walking those halls and making students safe. He should be talking about the victim and expressing empathy for her. Where in the hell is this guy from? Is this really the best they can do? He has GOT to go. When you see people sending their kids to private school please realize that this kind of crap is one big reason. |
