Not sure why that is something to criticize.

Sure, it’s a good cause.

But it’s a PR event for Costner and celebs.

And it’s interesting who showed up and how they all damaged reputations. They’re thirsty.

This is the fifth or sixth year he has hosted it. It wasn't something he drummed up for his own divorce PR. Putting on a massive fundraiser like that is expensive and if he didn't host it, One805 wouldn't be able to run it. It kind of shows people are just about hating when they decide that hosting an annual funraiser for first responders in a community that had a massive wildfire is a sign of him being this horrible jerk just trying to redeem his image. That just shows a massive lack of critical thinking. He would have hosted the exact same event even if he had still been married. It was planned long before the divorce. People have lost perspective when they hate everything about someone - without discriminating if it is worth hating or not. Hating for the sake of hating is a pretty immature approach to life.

We get it.

You luv Kevin.

Like I said, it’s a good cause.

Let’s give him a big hand for reaching into his very deep pockets to host it. Hooray!

I just think it’s interesting *who* showed up. There’s an article on DM this morning. It was the top story earlier. Oprah, Ellen, and Harry and Meghan…all of whom currently have damaged reputations. It’s a safe space they can show up for some easy PR.

It’s interesting that better celebs didn’t show up. It’s plausible that Hollywood realizes Costner is damaged at the moment so they are steering clear.

That’s all.

Geez.

Your take is silly. You are claiming celebs who supported this worthy cause are trying to repair their image? One805 is probably wishing all celebs were in image repair mode.

The point is who didn’t show up.

Apparently this was the best Costner could produce…to see him get an award at his home…

And someone put all this out there, making it a top story on People, TMZ, DM, etc.

Where is the full attendance list for this year and how is it different from the previous 5 years?

So he receives any award for hosting? And off presented by carpet baggers H&M? WTAF.

All the press for the event seems reallllly thirsty.

Hollywood royalty?!?! As if!

The only celebs listed are Costner, Oprah, Ellen, and H&M…pretty much the local celebs from the fancy pants neighborhood in Montecito that benefitted from the help of the first responders in 2018.

I mean, why not write a big check…Oprah…instead of selling tix and tables to regular folks?

And why is Meghan wearing a heavy coat dress? She’s pictured alongside a woman wearing a tiny summer dress. I think she’s trying to emulate Kate’s style which works in chilly London but looks silly in CA.

Santa Barbara gets chilly at night from the ocean breeze. I too would have on a jacket of some sort. You have no idea how heavy Meghan's coat is, as it is pure speculation on your bias part. Oprah has on a sweater. Harry has on a coat jacket and lots of other people have on jackets and outerwear gear. The young woman is basically young, and wanted to people to notice her feminine assets. That's what a lot of young women do at that age. Don't you remember going to the bar and clubs in your twenties, wearing too little and low-crop dresses in the winter. You wanted to be noticed. Doing what you did, I of course am merely speculating why she is wearing such a revealing dress at this event contrary to how most all the other attendees are dressed.

You have no idea who else was there. This is who H and M took pictures with, not a roll call of the event.

I don't love Kevin at all. I don't even know him and I think the last Kevin Costner movie I saw was Dances with Wolves. I just don't have as much hatred towards anyone on earth as some on here have for Kevin. When you hate someone (you dont even know) so much that you have nothing but negative things to say about a fundraiser for mental health for first responders, it is time to take look inward.

Ftr I don’t hate him.

I only came to this thread after seeing all the Harry and Meghan press for the event.

But I do believe Costner’s rep has been negatively impacted by his divorce and that might prompt celebs to steer clear. Remember: this isn’t Kevin’s first divorce. He has a bunch of kids with different women. He’s notorious for trading in for a younger model. And there’s nothing noble about that. Hosting an annual fundraiser doesn’t negate that.

Hollywood is not steering clear of him because he is divorced with multiple wives/children. They did not steer away from Clint Eastwood with his seven children from five or six different women. They did not avoid Brad Pitt after his messy divorces from Aniston and Jolie. Then there is Eddie Murphy, Owen Wilson, Steven Tyler, Kelsy Grammer and so on. All these men had messy breakups and multiple baby mamas and their careers went unscathed. So nope, people are not avoiding Costner, especially when most of the successful ones in Hollywood also have prenups and are glad to know they will be enforced.

You don't think this charity event should not have been publicized? You're crazy if you don't think the charity did not benefit from the publicity. The charity would have its own PR firm to get the message out to garner more support and donations. It's a worthy cause that now more people are aware of and may donate. It would be a failure and dereliction of the charity's PR and communication section if they did not shop this event to news and information outlets. Grow up.

There are also lots of Hollywood women with messy divorces, mutiple men as fathers to their kids, and prenups.

No one in the Hollywood world is going to cancel or avoid someone for those things. They are all part and parcel of being rich and famous. Everything gets made public and judged.

Yep. Lots of immorality permeates Hollywood. All about money.

Wall Street, Government, and even medical industry. My retina doctor friend has three wives and five children. He has his third wife and mistress. Hollywood is not alone. It permeates throughout our society.

Yellowstone re-runs Sunday at 8pm on CBS are getting nearly 7 million viewers.

The “boycott” of Kevin appears to be just a couple of posters on DCUM. lol

Hollywood will always side with their own. Christine is a nobody in the industry. The only star who experienced some temporary social discomfort after a divorce was Elizabeth Taylor after the Eddie Fisher fiasco.

The British Royal Family, too.

There were tons of attendees taking pics of the VIPs — in many of the pics that circulated you could see others trying to get their own shots or taking selfies w the vip tent in the background (cringe!). Do you think someone paid these people to attend and fangirl over the vips?

Is Maroon Five also problematic? Did I miss something there?
