Bless you! OMG, that dress is ugly. |
|
Ok, well it looks nice in this picture because the model is thin and leggy. It is not a flattering dress on most women. |
| The buttons look so cheap, and 100% polyester is so gross in this heat and humidity |
Mhm. Classic case of “is actually a stylish article of clothing or is the model (/people at the events etc.) just thin and pretty?” |
| Its hard to find summer dresses that look professional (with sleeves). I see the appeal. |
And in this case, it is not a stylish article of clothing because it is deeply unflattering to the average woman. |
|
I dislike it. The faux pockets and the braiding detail just looks heavy and tacky to me. I do like the shape (which works well on my body-- slim athletic build with a small chest) but the PP is right that fabric sounds like hell in a DC summer.
Entirely unsurprising to me that it's been embraced by young Republican staffers though. The gold buttons don't read as Jacquie Kennedy to me at all -- that's pure Nancy Reagan with a dash of Ivanka thrown in. It's the gawdy 80s interpretation of 60s glamour, not the real thing. Sorry. |
I laughed at the top photo because she's a pretty woman but that dress is deeply unflattering. It makes her look like a toddler in a Christmas dress. The anecdote about the woman mocking the knock offs and noting you have to get it hemmed and darted was also amusing. She's totally right about the alterations. If you want it to give you at least a hint of a nice shape (and not make you look short and squat) you need to have it taken in and up. |
| Hm, I've never seen this dress before. |
| Ooooooh, I didn't know that this is a DC-based company. All the posts about this brand here all the time makes so much more sense now. |
| I agree it reads very old time Republican to me, esp with braiding |
