How long will the shutdown last?

Because it doesn't include the $5 billion for the wall. Duh.

Why not introduce a bill with the $5 billion included to end the shutdown? It's a small amount, relatively speaking. This is just about the Dems not wanting to give Trump a "win" in deterring illegal immigration.

Because the wall won’t solve anything. Duh. Trump should have obtained fundding whdn the GOP had Congress. Americans don’t support the wall and Congress is elected to serve the people, which the Dems do. The GOP serves others, not the people. Hey Trump’s win was the unpopular tax break for the 1%!

His most recent claim for declaring a national emergency is that "prayer rugs" were found near the border. I guarantee this will be a major talking point leading up to declaring an emergency. He's going to do it today because he can't cave (to a normal person, compromise) without getting conservative pundits mad at him and he can't handle not jetting off to Florida on the weekends. This allows him an out so he can get back to spending taxpayer dollars on his weekend trips. He doesn't care that this will be held up in court. He's just trying to save face and get out of this any way he can.

You think some farmer and Trump know the difference between prayer rugs and kilims and Native American small rugs?! Google, it look pretty similar.

I don't think he cares if one was even found. I actually thought it was made up like all his other made up claims. I'm just saying that I think his new tactic is to say "prayer rugs" were found and that is a national security concern warranting declaring a national emergency. I don't think there's any credibility to the argument, but when has that stopped him before.

Why hasn’t The Turtle introduced a wall bill in the Senate? Because it can’t pass the Senate.

Why didn’t Trump include the $5 billion in his original FY19 budget ask if it was so important?

+1. Nobody wants this wall other than Trump. But let’s destroy the economy and people’s lives by shutting down the Government because Trump wants one.

Because he’ll shut down the government again- when he needs the next 5 billion. 5 billion is not the cost of the wall. The wall has no plan. This is why we don’t negotiate with terrorists.

Trump is a moron. If this wall was such an emergency why didn't he do something in the last 2 years when the GOP was in complete control? Small wonder people are skeptical now.

CNN reports on the timing of Trump's non-starter announcement - "As for the timing, the White House wants it to look like they had a valid reason for canceling House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Afghanistan, and feared that if there was no movement this weekend -- no meetings, no negotiations or no speeches -- they would look bad, two people familiar with the schedule told CNN."

What a total waste of time and TV airtime. So frustrating. In the meantime, government still shutdown with no end in sight!
