Interesting. My furloughed federal employee relatives in flyover country are very well aware of the shutdown as is their community. They are struggling and heading to food banks - these are not rich people.

My husband’s company is headquartered I’m flyover country and is feeling the sting of the shutdown because they execute contracts for the government that have been stopped - over 1000 people in that company have jobs on the line.

Plenty of people in flyover country care and are getting hurt by this shutdown. It’s a disgrace. All for Trump’s useless vanity project.

The shutdown may have started about the wAll but now once the GOP realized how trump wont budge b/c he narcissist they jumped all in. This is a GOP wet dream, destroy Gov. sell off public lands and privatize the crap out of what’s left.

A senior administration official told CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett that Mr. Trump will present what the White House believes could be a deal to end the shutdown. The deal was largely influenced by talks between Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.

Good. I’m glad it won’t be an emergency declaration. That would set a very bad precedent, and would be challenged anyway and so not effective. Better for the President to offer a deal. If the Dems accept it, then great. Otherwise the status quo can continue.

His most recent claim for declaring a national emergency is that "prayer rugs" were found near the border. I guarantee this will be a major talking point leading up to declaring an emergency. He's going to do it today because he can't cave (to a normal person, compromise) without getting conservative pundits mad at him and he can't handle not jetting off to Florida on the weekends. This allows him an out so he can get back to spending taxpayer dollars on his weekend trips. He doesn't care that this will be held up in court. He's just trying to save face and get out of this any way he can.

You think some farmer and Trump know the difference between prayer rugs and kilims and Native American small rugs?! Google, it look pretty similar.
