I think if Trump filled the seat before the election it would backfire. For whatever reason, SCOTUS control is a "controls my vote" issue for more Rs than Ds. If they know the seat is filled and safe, it frees more of them up to vote for Biden. Which is silly because RBG would have stepped down as soon as Biden was in office anyway, but not everybody is rational when it comes to politics. |

So never let them get away with their lies that they’re “pro life.” They’re not. Please realize that they’re obsessed only with controlling women, full stop. The 200,000 dead doesn’t give them pause, the sterilized immigrants doesn’t bother them, the caged children shouldn’t have come here in the first place, who cares if you can’t get healthcare.... Let’s all agree never to let Evangelicals pretend to be holy ever again. |
I think it was spontaneous. If he’d been prepped, he’d have been egged on by the horrible people around him and been fired up by them reminding him of what “it could get for him”. He’s not a conservative and he doesn’t care about Roe v. Wade. He’ll say plenty of stupid stuff tomorrow. |
?? So as long as Democrats control the court, it is OK, no matter the means? |
Republican voters keep proving that they are small, horribly damaged people. |
Good grief. Is there *nothing* you ghouls won’t just leave alone? What he said was perfectly appropriate. The end. |
And he was roundly mocked as a monarch wannabe, and so gave up on the idea. Seriously, people... |
Tell us again how Biden has dementia but also got the questions for the town hall in advance and memorized all the answers. The end. |
| So McConnell can ram through a SC confirmation but cannot pass another bill to help people who have lost their jobs because of Covid? Interesting. |
Wow, he has you snowed. |
Not how what is supposed to work? Democrat SCOTUS justices have been forcing MASSIVE social and economic changes on the nation for 90 years. Is THAT how it is supposed to work? |
Yup. Because the democrats got rid of the filibuster for judicial nominations. Resp the whirlwind. |
PP. I'm not Catholic anymore (converted to Eastern Orthodoxy) and I do consider myself pro-life. I vote Democrat because at this point I disagree with almost everything else the Republicans stand for. Especially after the last four years. And I think that as a PP said, a better social safety net, maternity leave, etc will do more to help women and decrease abortions than reversing Roe v Wade. For what it's worth, one man I know who is in his late 70s is a hardcore Trump supporter but he's always been pro-choice because he remembers what it was like before 1973 and doesn't want to go back to that. |
I’ve never said Biden has dementia. Next... |
He knew well in advance that it was coming - why do you think he put out that list of potential SC nominees? |
