They can’t.....

If you pack the court to 12, then Republicans can pack to 15 and so forth until we get like 100? It will never end.

The rules are the rules. President pick s the nominee and senate confirms. Period. You don’t have to like the rules.

Also you can blame Reid for changing the rules from 60 to 50. Dems fault periodnthere. Never should have used the nuclear option as now Dems don’t control the senate and republicans can now use the tooth to confirm their nominees.

Stand by your words Mitch, or does it not matter this time around?

Grassley has already said that he would not consider a SC justice nomination in 2020. So have Murkowski, Collins and Romney. Unless McConnell can pressure these four to change their minds, they have all publicly said that they would not vote to fill a SC seat in 2020. And they have all said so in the last few months.

Graham said it in 2018. So we'll see if he keeps his word.

Oh please. Graham is a Trump syncophant who has already changed his very vociferous opinions about many things to align with Trump. You can bet that he will continue to fawn over the President and will do whatever the President wants him to do.

PP here. I absolutely expect him to go back on his word.

The GOP “no” votes will be: Collins, Murkowski, Sasse, Romney, Grassley, Gardner, and a couple others. That’s the ball game. Doug Jones is a principled liberal who is en route to a surprise re-election. Manchin ... who knows what he’ll do. Moot point. Seriously: this is really all y’all need to know. No new appointment. Sorry Trumpeters .

He’s already drawn a distinction.

So if they won’t vote “Before” the election, what’s to stop them from voting on a nominee on 11/4?

Your confidence is seriously baffling to me. Beautiful, but baffling.

This. He is going to use it to shore up conservative voters to vote for him then Moscow Mitch will push something thru during lame duck session win or lose.

If that happens and Biden wins and D reclaim Senate, they absolutely need to pack he courts.

What does pack the courts mean?

No rules on size of Court.

The court has not always had 9 justices.

And no it's not the Dems fault the rules were changed. McConnell decided the GOP would filibuster all of Obama's nominees...that is what brought the whole thing about.

1. Trump appoints nominee.

2. Republicans don’t confirm a nominee, citing Garland principle.

3. Media grouses about Trump violating Garland principle and gives no credit to Senate’s forbearance.

4. Biden wins, expand size of the Supreme Court. Media celebrates this historic milestone.

Pretty much, except four is wrong. Biden nominates first African American woman to the Court and the new Dem Sebate confirms.

McConnell didn't follow those rules, why should Biden?

Impeachment hearings supercede any other business in the Senate. If the House started with Barr and then tee'd up DeJoy, that should be enough to stall any SCOTUS deliberations.

There is a part of me that says let him pick someone. Sort of give up the spot. Then a ton of people will lose a reason to vote for Trump as the position is filled and it will be his own downfall.
