Have a governor who's a woman.

Sorry, but it's true.

Nope. Just like you can’t blame Trump for Covid, you can’t give Janet Mills credit for Maine’s situation.

Maine is 35K square miles and has a population of 1.3 million. Maine has a population density of 41 people per square mile.

Maryland has a population density of 594 people per square mile. And Maryland is way more diverse.

Population density makes a huge difference in the spread of Covid.

Like in Arizona, for example, which has a population density of 45 people per square mile.

No, wait...

China is 400 per square mile. How is it not surging all over their entire country. Hmmmmm

We have no idea what is going on in China. No clue.

They did open schools in some areas, but then had to close them back down soon after.

They opened all of their schools and closed a few temporarily. But.. if you are going to get picky, how about Germany? 623 per square mile. I mean, I can go all day here

NP here.... crickets. Lol

But but but......

Yes, indeed. Facts are stubborn things.

What facts?

Tell us exactly what Germany did that Maryland did not do.

Every where like where??

Yeah, OP, where? Name a large metropolitan area.

Not OP but most are doing hybrid. Hardly any are doing all DL.

Boston
NYC
Philadelphia
DC
Raleigh
Hartford
Providence
Indianapolis
Newark
Pittsburgh
Chicago

To name a few....

That will likely change by September. But, we’ll see.

Then stay in your basement.

Basement is better than being buring 6 ft under like the many idiots who are following Trump.

I didn’t realize all the nursing home residents were trump supporters.

But it doesn’t. Otherwise China, Japan, many countries in Europe, etc... would be out of control, no?

Population doesn’t matter IF you wear masks.

China was and probably still is out of control, nitwit. They are liars who control the media. If trump controlled the media, we’d have no covid here either.

Open up. The emotional scarring and lack of rigor far outweigh "safety" factors.

wimps

I say this as a parent and teacher.

The real wimps are the people unironically using stupid pop psych buzzwords like "emotional scarring" to describe distance learning. It's a pandemic. Put on your big girl panties and GET. OVER. IT.

He does partially control the media which is why we don't have fully accurate information. We don't have the right numbers as we don't have universal testing and we will not get it under control due to peoples behavior, not because of Trump.

Go take a public health course or two. Then come back

Even in NY, where we now have one of the lowest rates of new cases, many districts are choosing DL.

Check out the photo of Niagara Falls that shows the Maid of the Mist and its Canadian counterpart. America is weak.

I happened to look up the plan in a school district in Texas where I grew up. Admittedly it's about half the size of FCPs, so not huge but not exactly small either.

They have a website that clearly lays out the plan, requirements, FAQs. The expectation for students and staff is in person 5 days a week with masks. Students can sign up for online synchronous learning if they choose and they have the option to go back in person after the first 6-9 weeks.

Now how do they get the staff to show up for that? I guess because they've made it clear that's the expectation. Nothing in this elaborate website at all about submitting LOA or ADA, I'm sure you could if you actually need to but something about setting the expectation that you need to show up seems to be getting these teachers available in person, in conditions that would be considered less ideal than FCPS. Interesting.

^forgot to add. They are starting on time in less than a month, mid August.

You can add Phoenix to the growing list of districts going for all virtual to start. The list will continue to grow.
