Let's just say I am not buying it.

If I had been robbed at gunpoint in a foreign city, I would be on the next plane out of there with a vow never to set foot in that country again. I agree that the whole story doesn't add up and is quite fishy, but him leaving Brazil is not one of the fishy parts, IMO. That could go either way.

If he stayed in the olympic village, he wouldn't have had to wear pants all week if he didn't want to.

... I doubt he is hurting for sex in the states, either.

I saw a suggestion he was actually robbed by prostitutes. That could explain a lot. Just saying.

The only thing that surprises me about this is that there weren't more robberies and incidents that they didn't manage to cover up. Last time my company sent me to Brazil on business, they sent me with security (Secret Service style) as well as an armored car. I'm not that important. In the short time I was there, a tourist was gang raped for several hours on a bus in Rio. Did that make the news here? Probably not. It's a beautiful place, but really not safe at all, and the beaches are disgusting--i just hope none of the divers come down with brain eating amoeba!

Some of the story is lost in writing - he claims the guy put a gun to his head, and he says whatever. In writing this comes off as very contentious. When he interviews and tells the same story the "whatever" is still muttered but it's very much a ok ok, don't shoot me, whatever... You say.

This is the only realistic explanation for a falsehood about the robbery I've read on this thread. i.e. there was a robbery but much more embarrassing.

Lochte is very light in his loafers--they were out trolling for rough trade and got rousted. Also, some very expensive gear was stolen from an area--they suspect one of the two swimmers.

Why did he sign up for Tinder if he had a girlfriend? Maybe he was up on some Tinder escapades with his cronies and his girlfriend was trying to find him so in bros before hoes they made up some dumb frat boy story after coming back at 6am, girlfriend believed it ...went to Daily Mail ... And it just expanded too fast to pull back in
