It's apparent you don't get out much.

NP- and/or that PPs kids don't get out much. Man, wait until they go to college and get their first chance at a kegger with weed and a DJ. Some people just have no clue.

The most disturbing thing in those photos is the overweight secret service guy trying to blend in and look cool in his obviously brand new polo shirt.

My daughter is 19. She does not act like this.

Be a lot cooler if she did.

Cool is highly over-rated. She has pretty going for her.

Hahah I have to love clueless parents. Get a life. Really you have nothing else going on so you have to boast on anonymous message boards!?

Meanwhile when I was that age all of the kids with parents like you were the ones who partied the most.

Malia is being a totally normal kid.

Normal? I have an eighteen year old, and this is not "normal" for her and her circle of friends.

Dancing at a music festival? Mmkay.

Well, she likely wouldn't be there in the first place because she's probably working or hanging out with friends or just taking it easy at home, and spending $120 just to get into an event like this would be absurd to her, but let's set that aside for a moment.

No, she wouldn't be "twerking" or smoking pot.

I feel bad for your kid if she is only working and sitting at home most of the time. If she thinks it would be absurd to save up for tickets to an all-day festival of bands that she enjoys, then that's her prerogative. Most kids her age enjoy going to special events now and again with their friends, and dancing, and listening to live music. It's a shame if your daughter is missing out on those experiences.

The only shameful thing in these pics is that blonde in the jean shorts... ass cheeks hanging out, tummy roll hanging over.

Preach!

And if what you're saying is true, and little Larla really is a good girl now it's because she's kept on such a short leash, and whew, watch out for college! The kids who had super strict parents growing up were always the worst in college. The one year I was an RA, the three freshmen on my floor who got probation fall semester and eventually flunked out spring semester came from strict parent households where they were allowed hardly any freedom.

Nice try. "Most" kids don't go to lollapalooza, but whatever, that wasn't the point. I thought the discussion was not about her presence but about her behavior. So a kid can't hang out with friends and listen to music without smoking a little pot? When did that become normal?

My poor kid - she's made it all the way to 18 years old without having smoked pot, gotten laid, passed out drunk or any of those other "experiences. You're right, now I feel bad too.

Yep, this was me.

Who says a kid who doesn't "party" must come from a strict household?

My high school senior has her own car, plenty of spending money, no real curfew...and enough common sense to be a responsible citizen. She's not drinking, smoking pot, having sex, etc. She's still out at least a couple of nights a week with friends and has a pretty active social life; she just doesn't need to act like an idiot to have a little fun. I guess most of you think that she's not the normal one though, but I hope you're wrong.

If you'll re-read the post, it doesn't say that most kids go to Lollapalooza, just that it's nice for kids to go to special events now and then. And your PP very specifically said, aside from the behavior, that simply attending a music festival in the first place would be "absurd". And there was no mention of the experiences having to involve pot, drinking, sex, or anything else like that. Just fun with friends, dancing, and enjoying themselves. Obviously that's off limits in your view.

Anyway, you're clearly starting with "I don't like Malia Obama" and working backwards from there to justify it.

I said, " spending $120 just to get into an event like this would be absurd to her." She wouldn't consider lollapalooza a "special event" but there are plenty of other things she would and does enjoy. I'm confident that she doesn't smoke pot and dance like stripper when she's there though.

And I don't know Malia Obama, so I'm in no position to like her or not. That has nothing to do with my position at all. All I said was that the exhibited behavior shouldn't be called "normal."

Who cares? It's pot. Should be legal in my opinion... I don't want to smoke it but I definitely do not want the government regulating what I can or cannot put into my own body (or what anyone else can put into theirs).

As for the dancing... so? It's dancing! Previous generations had plenty of awkward/weird/ugly/disliked by elders dance styles.
