If she thinks it would be absurd to save up for tickets to an all-day festival of bands that she enjoys, then that's her prerogative. Most kids her age enjoy going to special events now and again with their friends, and dancing, and listening to live music. It's a shame if your daughter is missing out on those experiences.[/quote]

Nice try.  "Most" kids don't go to lollapalooza, but whatever, that wasn't the point.  I thought the discussion was not about her presence but about her behavior.  So a kid can't hang out with friends and listen to music without smoking a little pot?  When did that become normal?

If you'll re-read the post, it doesn't say that most kids go to Lollapalooza, just that it's nice for kids to go to special events now and then. And your PP very specifically said, aside from the behavior, that simply attending a music festival in the first place would be "absurd". And there was no mention of the experiences having to involve pot, drinking, sex, or anything else like that. Just fun with friends, dancing, and enjoying themselves. Obviously that's off limits in your view.

Anyway, you're clearly starting with "I don't like Malia Obama" and working backwards from there to justify it. [/quote]
