So are we going to talk about this?

First there were pictures of her twerking. I was discussing with a friend and she was all worked up about it but i was of the opinion, ehhh, she's 19, her father's term is almost up, and she's not dong anything that any other 19 year old is doing. My friends point, yeah, but she's the president's daughter, she is held to a higher standard than the average 19 year old.

Now today, there is a video of her smoking what appears to be pot. Now I'm raising my eyebrows a little bit. I mean, on the one hand she's lived her entire life under intense scrutiny and I imagine numerous rules and limitiations. Now she's 19, a high school graduate soon to be college student and apparently she's ready to just live her life.

I've never been to lollapalooza but I imagine it's like any other festival. I wonder if her secret service person is allowed to step in if there is questionable behavior or are they to not interfere at all unless there is some sort of threat to her physically.

Secret service didn't seem to interfere with the Bush daughters drinking under age. Perhaps because the agents themselves are pretty notorious partiers.

When your kid is at the top of their class at Sidwell, accepted to Harvard, spends most of their summer after HS graduation interning for the ambassador to Spain, and makes it through 8 years as a presidential kid and 2 presidential campaigns (age 10-19) in the spotlight, without a single tweet, post or photo causing controversy, you can bust on Malia Obama.

Until then, STFU. She worked most of the summer, will probably intern next year, then hit the books at Harvard. She took a week off to cut loose, dance to the music, take one hit from a joint (or so it is alleged) and cut loose.

We should all be lucky to have "problem kids" like her.

She's 18 not 19. On the one hand, I say she's doing what lots of other college bound teens do. On the other hand, I wish she wasn't so public about it because cell phones are everywhere.

At least she's not a nerd. She knows how to cut loose yet still hit the books.

Nope. She appears to be covered by her Secret Service detail plus her friends. Pretty sure somebody would intervene if it was concerning or shameful. She's a young adult now; not a kid anymore.
