So sad. And a family friend that vacationed with them?! Yikes! He was priming him. Would have escalated quickly if it wasn't discovered. |

It says in the news that when questioned he admitted that he had touched and sent the child a snapchat pic; http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/DC-Fourth-Grade-Teacher-Accused-of-Child-Sex-Abuse-305928991.html Now it is also updated to say that he was also a "close family friend" so maybe that is why the family allowed the child to have phone contact with him. |

Well apparently is was when CLASS was in session, so he wasn't alone. That is pretty bold ... "Court documents say a male student alleges Peña of touching the boy's penis, buttocks and thighs through his clothing inside the teacher's classroom while class was in session. It happened on two different occasions during 2013-2014 school year. I knew it. God only knows how many poor children he's MOLESTED in that Oyster School. Lots of very well to do families there. Even rich kids aren't safe anymore. I feel so sorry for them all. |

This sort of thing is just not a good idea for ANY teacher, period if it means what it says in the post, however innocent it may be. |

Exactly. I seriously hope this information doesn't get deleted by Admin. Parents need to learn how to best protect their own children from these predator perverts. Teachers and coaches should not be allowed access to young kids (away from school) without another adult present. |

Beware of perverted "popular" adults in your child's life. Could be a teacher, coach, neighbor, even another parent. Make sure you know where your kid goes to spend time with a "really nice" adult.
Always listen to your gut. You don't need proof. By then, it's too late. |

The school needs to promptly schedule an open community meeting to address how this travesty happened. And how to make sure it doesn't continue with others. Business as usual cannot be allowed. Would parent, or community volunteers be able to serve as helpers in the classroom? They could even volunteer to be fingerprinted and vetted for their integrity, like childcare workers are. What kind of background checks are currently required of public school employees? |
