Oyster-Adam teacher arrested

Anonymous
My kids attended OA for years, some of the most dedicated and talented teachers around. This was one of the most popular teachers. I hope the allegations are not true.

Come on, this could happen at any school. I would love to take your spot.

And if they're true?

I know Gio from a fair amount of interaction with him at OA. I am completely shocked --- I have never seen anything in his behavior that was anything but professional.

His life is ruined either way.

This person is joking. They would love a spot at Oyster too.

What you apparently don't understand is, by the time the police are actually arresting someone, 99% of the time there is MORE THAN ENOUGH evidence to arrest. The truly sad thing is how much evidence it usually takes to get law enforcement to actually act. I worked in this field in a past career and it is shocking how obvious the abuse can be (once it's been discovered and children have been interviewed) and yet without damning evidence like video or pics it's shocking how much it can take to get law enforcement to act.

By the time someone is actually being arrested, especially someone like this, it's dramatically likely it's true. Also likely that only the tip of the iceberg is known. I've seen cases move forward where so many of the victims' allegations werent' even included, for various reasons.

Wow, it's outrageously egregious that they got the name of the school wrong! DC Bilingual should be lawyering up immediately, that is scandalous and awful (and I'm no big fan of DC Bilingual myself, but that is just awful!).

We are at Oyster-Adams. We have not had any information from school about this even though it was on the news last night. I wish DCPS could have at least put out a statement before kids got to school. Many will be upset and very confused. If parents had known, we could have prepared our children at least somewhat. There were parents crying on the sidewalks when they found out. Many are close friends with him and were in complete shock.

The principal made a huge mistake in not communicating with us about this before school.

Oh, wait I get it, they didn't mean DC Bilingual the school, they mean a bilingual school in DC. Still, that's pretty bad and the journalist clearly doesn't know DC schools or they'd catch that.

This is exactly right. More police corruption.

It happened so late, principal may not have had time to react before school and she may need some sort of DCPS clearance in these matters before speaking about it.

I haven't seen anything about the facts yet, it's not even clear if the victim was a student.
