I agree with you, and well said. The post above yours was not a serious reflection, rather a mocking of the ridiculousness which keeps going on and on without making much sense. |
Some of you should learn about rape victims. Most of them don't want their attacker to ever victimize another person again. Ever again. |
I agree. |
It is true victims don't want their perpetrators to attack again. For that reason, many will bravely come forward. But once the perpetrator's been arrested/is in jail, there's no reason to continue to re victimize by keeping the story going. People can try to spin it all they want, but more Pena stories=nothing more than a desire for salaciousness. |
Obviously it's not the big story you or PP wanted it to be. And you can't shame or cyber bully WaPo into making it such. Truth is, there is no hysteria around this story. But some posters desperately want it to be. Too bad. He was arrested. Admitted guilt. Case closed. |
+1000 agree with you! |
Exactly right! |
Teach me anything you want to about rape victims. I have extreme compassion for anyone who is abused in any way, and I would never want attackers to victimize another person ever again regardless of the fact that I have never been raped. What is your point? Do you think anyone on this thread wants another person to be victimized in any way, shape or form? You misunderstand a lot, and shame on you if you really feel this way about other parents on this thread! Mr. Pena is in JAIL and will be sentenced in September. I guess my frustration is I don't understand what you want. To date, it would appear that there have not been more victims (fact), he is in jail and unable to continue along the path of hurting the victim any longer. We know there will be significant emotional healing for the kid and his family, but the issue has reached a physical stopping point. (fact) Maybe some of you are personally hurt and this is your way of expressing yourself. Many people join these conversations coming from many different angles and it appears it is a lot of angst about fiction. |
Bravo! +1 |
So now little kids are reading DCUM threads and the Washington Post?
In that case let's all sanitize every thread and be careful not to engage in ad hominem attacks, judge one another, and model other bad behavior. Come to think of it, that's a good idea regardless of how silly the "revictimizing" thesis is. |
You sound ridiculous. No one suggested kids read this forum (although the victim's parents might). The point is that keeping this story in the news, all over TV, in newspapers--as many are calling for--does not allow the family to heal. And it does revictimize the poor 3rd grader. Furthermore, it serves no point. Pena is not on the lamb. Sounds like an open and shut case. Everyone deserves the right to move on. But with your hysterical mind, I can see how you'd miss the point entirely. |
Thanks for demonstrating ad hominem attacks, judgment, and modeling bad behavior all in one succinct, nasty post. Cheers! |
You're welcome! And thank you for throwing the first rock---then being shocked when hit with a rock in return. Hope you find fulfillment after accepting the Pena case won't give you the satisfaction you need. |

I didn't want to lock this thread, but you folks aren't leaving me much of a choice. I suppose this will be considered part of the pro-pedophile conspiracy in which the Post is apparently involved, but that's life. |
