Neighbors seem to really hate us and we don't know why

It was also the law where I grew up in the Midwest, but I did/do genuinely believe it's also true here and I'm not just carrying it forward. That being said, I think the County only relies on it in the case of accidents or if someone really hounds them to paint the opposite curb yellow. And, since one of the driveways across from us belongs to a 90 year old woman who still drives to church, I just err on the side of caution for my own sake. "

Ditto. Just because you "genuinely believe" something doesn't make it so. What an airhead!

I'm with the PG poster, having learned to drive in a state where you cannot park across from a private driveway. I never do it and figured it was probably part of the MD rules of the road too--just one that no one observed here in Entitledland.

PP here. Clarification: If you live in the city, then park where ever. If you purposely do not purchase property in the city, but rather in the suburbs, then you need to to purposely extend common courtesy to your neighbors. ie: do not park in front of your neighbors house if you know they do not like it. When in Rome, indeed. This can be debated ad naseum, but what it comes down to is not alienating certain people. A little common sense goes a long way.

"The roses would be an issue for me, though. Let your husband talk to them if they do it again. "

Why can't OP speak for herself?

She already has.

Sadly, some older generations defer to the husband. Why do you think so many old ladies are bitter?

But if no one has driveways on your street, and someone is parked in front of your house, you have no choice but to park somewhere else (unless you want to drive around all night). Come on. We'd all like to park in front of our house all the time but if someone is parked in front of mine, I'm not going to get a hotel for the night. I'll just have to find parking as close to my house as I can, and so on. This is how it works. If the neighbors can't accept that, they aren't living in the real world and they need to find an alternative (house with driveway or building with reserved parking).

Again, in the suburbs, people have their own driveways and their own curbage. Use your own curbage to maintain peace. Your choice.

Otherwise, you are in the city and it is a different story. But you already knew that.
