had you seen the musical?

Yes, twice. Probably why I liked it bc they stayed true to the script and score

I have seen the musical and I am no great fan of AG but the movie was fantastic. My husband, 19 year old son, and 9 year old daughter loved it as well. I was so moved that I genuinely cried. I would watch it all o we again.

Is this Tik Tok influencer induced nonsense ?

It happened to me at Hamilton at the Kennedy Center

I've only seen the movie, not the musical on stage. I loved the movie!

I wished there was just a little more time spent showing their friendship develop. It seemed so rushed in the movie, it's hard for me to imagine that it wouldn't have felt too abrupt in the stage show. Does it?

Yes it’s bizarre and is the reason I’m hesitant to go. I think it’s the Taylor Swift Eras movie/swiftie culture that started this singing in a movie theater is ok business. And it makes sense since this is basically the same crowd…

It felt rushed in the stage show too.

I don’t like Cynthia at all. She should stick to stage productions. I’m curious about Arianna in this because she got her start on Broadway.

I will just wait to hear what the non-paid critics say.

The NY Times gave Cynthia a rave review and called her the best thing about the movie.

Paid critic.

Lol. So you value some rando whose expertise isn't compensated by a trusted publication. Got it.

This is the kind of person who says, "Yeah, I know the long-time Washington Post restaurant critic said it's terrible, but the Yelp ratings are great! So, we're going to Founding Farmers tonight!"

Omg. We just saw the movie - it was amazing! Cynthia’s voice blew me away! I actually think I liked her voice better than Ariana’s in this movie! Everything was stunning - the costumes, the dancing, the visuals, the voices…this has to win some Oscars.

The insufferable marketing campaign ensures that you couldn’t pay me to watch this self-congratulatory mess.

Omg I had no idea! We will stream it at home when it comes. Our little boys ages 11 and 9 want to see it. Will skip.

Not that poster, but… I mean the professional food & movie critics often have very different tastes than the general public. I’m not that sophisticated. Think of how often movies get poor critic reviews but do very well at the box office. And food critics would turn up their noses at some of the most popular restaurants.

We can pause and our home theater is far more comfortable.

Saw it last night. This is one you want to see on the big sceeen.

She has won a Tony, an Emmy and a Grammy. This is her bid for an Oscar.

And I think she'll get an Oscar. I saw it and she was amazing

This thread is SO DCUM - mostly negative. Its kind of hilarious actually.

I'll add my 2 cents. I am not a musical person and never saw Wicked in any form. My kid wanted to see it so I went. I absolutely LOVED it.

Saw it last night in a packed theater. I went solo but tons of families and friend groups.

There was no singing along. A few gasps and claps at certain surprises in the show. A few tears. The visuals and sound was amazing. It was great!
