This is why voting matters. The Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission need to know they'll be voted out if this initiative proceeds past them. |
That's a threat with no teeth behind it. Are you going to vote them out when they institute a meal tax later this year? |
"Encourage risky behaviors." Like what? Uhhh gambling "Changing the character of our community." By normalizing an addictive vice as “entertainment” Who are you afraid is going to come to a casino in Tysons? Gamblers. Get it yet? |
Are they drafting zoning ordinances now, or just saying please don't do it? |
With the current "chaos" in the federal government sector, the local county boards will jump at any "quick" fix to keep county revenue at the same levels. That means a meal tax and casino in Fairfax County. |
If they pass the meals tax and/or casino, our taxes better go down. |
Your taxes will increase, but "not as much" and you will be told to be "grateful." The meal tax and casino is just going to make a small dent in the budget. |
Hooray!
A VA House subcommittee killed the bill for the year! https://patch.com/virginia/mclean/tysons-casino-bill-stopped-2024-session-house-subcommittee |
They decided it’s unwise to do during an election year. They will try again next winter if Dems win governor. |
Scott Surovell will have to get even more money from the casino developer next year to shill harder. What a putz. |
Bill dies in the VA Assembly. |
Great news!! |
Scott Surovell promptly worked to get Jennifer Boysko thrown off the rules committee in the state senate due to her opposing his casino bill. What a slimy little excuse for a man and, quite honestly, shame on other Democrats for letting him get away with it. |
Hopefully he gets unseated in his next election. |
+1 Good riddance. |
