I actually am from the UK and I do know David Baddiel. You’re talking about the blackface in the 1990s, right? I don’t approve of that (he did apologise much later) but I don’t see why it negates what he wrote about Jews. |
[mastodon]
What do you want Jews to do? Which Jews have been Jewish in the “right” way? |
Most minorities have assimilated to an extend while still keeping ties to their culture and in this case religion. |
I don’t understand. It all sounds insane, but what would the motivation for this purported “replacement”? What would Jews stand to gain from this? Who the fk believes this lunacy? |
Give. It. Up. He said “very fine people on both sides” because his base is largely comprised of rural, redneck fks who like these old confederate statues. Trump is an opportunist. That you can’t see that, and that he is a piece of sht with 94 pending felonies, is absurd. |
To expand on this. Trump can’t go against the racist, ignorant, bigoted elements of his base or he would lose votes. There are no “very fine people on both sides”. There are only redneck fks who chant racist slogans and there’s everyone else. |

Of course it is insane. But, I think you can trace the evolution of this thinking like this: 1) first was the allegation that immigrants were replacing American workers by accepting lower pay for the same job; 2) second was the allegation that immigrants would get citizenship, maybe via amnesty, and then vote for Democrats; 3) third was the allegation that Democrats supported "open borders" in order to get more Democratic voters because of (2) above; 4) fourth was the realization that most Jews vote Democratic and some wealthy Jews (e.g. George Soros) were spending money on liberal causes. This all led to: Jews are supporting open borders in order to attract immigrants who will replace American workers and vote for Democrats leaving "real Americans" (i.e. White People) without jobs or political power. In other words, a Jewish war on white Americans. The guy who Musk said spoke the truth refuses to fill sorry for Jews who face antisemitism because he believes that they are facing hatred from immigrants (not necessarily true) and that Jews are responsible for those immigrants being here (also not true). |
Yglesias is a center left neoliberal and has shown that antisemitic fervor is strongest in conservative minority communities |
But not all conservative minorities are immigrants and not all immigrants are conservative. |
|
Also, it is not just a “soros boogeyman man” thing.
Bill Kristol also blatantly was championing replacement theory support a few years ago: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/feb/9/bill-kristol-asks-if-lazy-pockets-of-white-working/ |
Essentially, you are arguing that the great replacement theory is correct, right? |
News flash: every politically conservative capitalist since the 1600s has used “the great replacement” theory to try to marginalize immigrants. They used it to complain about Irish and Italian immigrants. Chinese and Japanese immigrants in California. Jewish immigrants. And now it’s to complain about Latin American and ME/South Asian immigrants. They’ve been playing the same tune for 300+ years to rile up working class whites. |

WTF what does "never tried to assimilate" even mean in the context of Jews in America or Jews anywhere for that matter?? Assimilate to what? What does it even meant to "assimilate"??? Jewish Americans are Americans. |
